If you're a DJ, you would need that much.
I spin and I hate having to carry around my portable HDD

$20 more than the WD2500BEVS. not bad. hopefully this will drive down the price of the 250gb sata drives even more. the passports that had the WD2500BEVS were running around $100-130.

    +1

and since I might start doing video, 320 might not be enough.

A lot of djs also keep their songs in .wav format which makes them much larger.

not at a local store. i find some every now and then locally from individuals. however, at the time i was looking for 2. the guy on craigslist said he would not have more for 2 more weeks and the one's i found on ebay for $120 shipped were only $30 less (best buy $150, including tax) than going to the store. i figured the $30 was worth getting it right then without waiting. i was at work with my m1210 and was brought a fedora core 8 dvd and i wanted to install it right then and there an ran up to best buy and picked up 2 passports (1 for my m1210 and 1 for my e1705 since i was already there), removed the drive, put it in the laptop, and put the old 80gb drive in the enclosure kit. if you want to take apart the enclosure kit to get the WD2500BEVS, use 2 credit cards and work them together once you get them pried into the enclosure kit. yeah, the newegg drives are a few bucks more but for awhile the 320gb drive from wd were out of stock. it appears they are in stock now and with shipping run about $208. not too bad considering a lot of places are selling the WD2500BEVS for not much less. dollar-wise though, if i would have waited, the $120 for 250 gigs would have been $.48 a gig, while the 320gb at $208 is $.65 a gig. i still would have stuck with the 250gb if the 320gb was in stock as i get a better deal with the 250gb and it would have cost more per gig for the 320gb. 70gb more space wasn't that much of a difference for me. some folks need more space though which would definitely be a good deal for them. $.65 a gig is not bad at all, especially considering you're getting a sata 3.0gb/s as opposed to the sata 1.5gb/s. that is, if you have a hardware that can transfer information faster than 1.5gb/s.
