This FRIDAY ONLY at your local walmart at 8am they are having secret instore specials!!!! NO REBATES - UNTIL THEY RUN OUT SO GET THERE EARLY
$300 for an acer laptop with 1gb memory : edit : now $350 and its a celeron M processor
$1000 for sanyo 50" hdtv plasma: http://www.walmart.com/catalog/product.do?product_id=5652238 - normally an already marked down $1300
and a HUGE deal on a Toshiba HD-A2 HD DVD Player!! only $100!! NORMALLY 300 - first hd dvd player to drop below 200 and this is at 100!
-
What? $100 For HD-DVD player
Wow..It's a killer deal -
do they just take a loss on these few things cas it cost more than that to manufacture those things...
-
yah no idea, i believe its FRIDAY ONLY and it starts at 8am
and they will be having more thoughout the holiday season (ofcourse including black friday) -
TOSHIBA & SONY running fast to get HD CROWN & they don't care about the price. Poor investors will face the problems due to huge loses....
I'm sure SONY will attack TOSHIBA with some low priced player.$100 Blu-RAY player....hmmm not bad.I'll jump at the chance -
Wow... But to get these things at this price, you will most likely have to camp out at walmart. Bring your tent and wait for several hours to be first in line.
-
http://holiday.ri-walmart.com/?section=secret
btw, the laptop is now marked 350. -
yah i wasn't saying it was black friday, just saying there will be more deals throughout the holiday season - including black friday
and i really doubt there will be a campout at any walmart - this is not advertised in any paper this only advertised online
so get there early but doubt you'll have to campout - not to mention most are 24 hours so its not hard
and to be more realistic, a bluray player would probably come down to $300 to be a deal, becauses they are still quite high priced -
the one in the top post is different then the one on the wal mart web site for this special. the top one is a amd based unit and the one shown in the flyer is a celeron m based one
-
yah when they changed the price, i think they changed the laptop in general because i dont think that celeron M logo was there at 2am when i saw it
-
wow $350 for a 1GB laptop. Sweet! Maybe i should get this instead of Asus Eee PC for $399.
How long will this secrete sale go on??? Couple of hours? -
the secret deal has been all over avsforums.com and endgadet.com (the article was Digg'd too). Expect a lot of people unless you live in some back water rural area.
-
It's also being advertised on TV... may want to expect the wait, although from the sounds of things, the Laptop is going to be in extremely high supply (100ish units at a lot of stores), but the HD-DVD player sits around 30 units each.
-
Shadowfire... where did you hear this?
-
...he heard it from the Wal-Mart fairy.
I was in the Wal-Mart in clairemont san diego and happen to walk by while the managers were giving the heads up about tomorrows sale to the employees. Basically he said they only had a few laptops and only 3 HD TVs, no toshiba players.
Also, the commercial doesn't mention any prices. -
No, a guy in another forum I use who has been a longtime Wal-Mart employee. Yea yea, "I heard from some guy" isn't exactly the best evidence around here, but it's a thread specifically about jobs, co-workers, and customers, so take that for what you will...
-
I got my Toshiba HD-DVD player this morning for $98.87 plus tax!
I had to wait in a relatively short line for it.
Quantities are limited. When it is gone, it is gone. -
they were gone before 8:30 at our wal marts

I am a member of a Black Friday watch group and these things were on the site on Wednesday. The Acer has always been $358 or there abouts. One of my daughters is a CSM at one of our SuperCenters and she bought one of these yesterday (Saturday). There were several left, as well as the HD DVD players. I have to go over there to 'install' it today. Go figure, she is afraid to plug it in! It is replacing a Compaq Armada I rebuilt for her so we shall see how it goes! Vista isn't one of my strong suits, so I may be whining in here soon.

wish i could have grabbed one for my nephew. this would have been perfect for his needs. all of our stores were sold out almost immediatly
-
There is a these lappys on eBay right now.
-
nothing says quality quite like " $300 wallmart laptop"
-
so does anyone think these are worth the 350$.. i have one being held for me just a s a knock around system, or should i wait to see what else comes for black friday? this has a celeron m 1.73, 80gb hdd, dvd read cd burner, 1gb ram, x1300 built in gpu, 15.4 xga screen.. ???
-
Well, I just spent two days at my daughter's with that laptop. Speedy little thing!! I didn't want to change anything so she could teach herself all about Acer and Vista. Let me see. Where do I start? How about: You know all the movies that they do that are about computers taking over the world? Makes me a believer!! LOL You have less control over that system/OS than ever!
First of all, one of the reasons I have always built my own is because I do not need 400 programs I will never use or those 50 programs that are shareware. So we find that in that Acer Bundle: Yahoo integrated everywhere, Norton integrated everywhere, Acer STUFF everywhere.
Vista. I won't comment on this POC OS except to say, XP Pro is more stable.
But that is a personal preference. I do not like XP at all. Vista has its own set of Popups and NOT on the net! "Do I have your permission to do the activity you just said you wanted to do?" Or some such.
I played with it for awhile. Put all her stuff from the M700 on there. Got so I can navigate anywhere I wanted to go. OH OH OH The 'keyboard'. Now, I don't know if it the keyboard or not, but I wanted to send out a test email to see if all would be ok. For some reason, during typing a long message, every once in awhile my cursor would go up somewhere in the text, causing me to type what I was saying four or five sentences up in the wrong place. Then when I tried to wipe it all out, it deleted everything in front of my cursor as I was typing.
I thought that may have been that mouse 'pad'. Ya know, resting my wrists on either side of it and accidentally 'rolling' across it. Thinking that was the problem. Not.
It is a sweet machine for someone who has the time to get rid of all the garbage or knows how to get rid of it. And, like someone pointed out, worth the price. KnowwhatImean??

Should have gotten two or three. Sigh..... -
-
so there aint' any more hddvd left???> man i should i have go to walmart and pick up one of these when i first read this thread last week.
-
I am SURE these HDDVD will be available at that time provided you don't get trampled first.
Has anyone seen the BF ads for Officemax? Samsung color laser for $119. Not sure if it is any good tho. But damn cheap. -
I gotta tell you this. My daughter knows a little about computers and will be able to figure out that mess. I commented that Vista doesn't bundle a word processor and was thinking I can install my Office2000 (the better of the office's IMHO) if Vista would let me. She said: Mom, it has a word processor. Ummm No, says I. Yes, mom, it says it on the sticker there. Had to laugh at her when she pointed it out to me. The sticker that says "Celeron Processor".
Ho hum........................
