    Yes, Sony has a price floor on the unit itself....

    If they didn't I could only imagine how cheap wal-mart would start selling them just to get people into the store; who then buy more stuff than the difference of the discounted price and would result in net profit for Wal-mart and losses for Sony.

    This is a great deal, if you want the cash, put the gift card on eBay where you recover 85%-105%. Why people on eBay are paying $105+ for $100 in store credit is beyond me (check the completed listings...?!)... anyways that's a ~$200 PS3.

    I went to walmart to pick one up and the clerk had no idea what I was talking about. Thought maybe I had the date wrong but after looking online I realized that the sale didn't start until 9pm (it was about 830). I bought my first PS3 with this exact same deal and used the card for another controller and Metal Gear 4, think the price was $400 then (2 or 3 years ago). Southern Pines....hailing from g'boro here

    Sam's Club should be selling Gift of Membership cards for $100 and gifting a $25 gift card with every card purchased so you can get a PS3 for essentially $125 plus the full price tax.
