I'm lucky enough to live 10 min drive from one of the older Microcenter stores and this is the place to go for electronics in general and computer stuff in particular. I wish them all the best and hope they stay healthy and don't ever dissapear like so many other electronics stores. And on many ocassions I actually find their prices lower than Amazon and other e-retailers. So it's good to hear they're expanding instead of closing, like so many others.

There used to be a great MicroCenter in Santa Clara, California, in the heart of Silicon Valley, in the Mercado Shopping Center - on Hwy 101.

Mercado Santa Clara - This entertainment complex includes a 20-screen AMC Theatre, Micro Center Computer Store, and popular food establishments: Tomatina's, Starbucks, Jamba Juice, Mexicali Grill, and Yo Yo Sushi. Mercado is located between Hwy. 101 and Great America Parkway on Mission College Boulevard, Santa Clara, CA 95054. AMC Mercado 20 Theatre

Walmart sniped their lease, and now it's yet another supermarket.

Kinda surprised MicroCenter never came back, it was always busy. Fry's may have something to do with it, since there are Fry's everywhere. It's hard to compete against Fry's - many competitors have come and gone - but MicroCenter makes that look easy.

There's still one in California, in Tustin CA, near LA.

IDK if you have one near where you are, but Central Computer has come into their own, with 5 locations in the Bay Area. CC carry's a nice selection of parts, DIY, and will custom order and carry what they don't yet have in stock:

That place looks like a nice stand-in for Micro Center. I remember when they had a lot more locations in the Bay area. I would stop in whenever I had time if I was traveling in that region on business.

MicroCenter only had the one location in Santa Clara. The 5 Central Computers locations listed are the only ones I've ever seen. The Santa Clara CC location was there for the longest time before they expanded. What other locations did you imagine? It was probably a Fry's location, as those are still everywhere.

I may have been conflating with LA. Those were the two places I went most often when I was traveling frequently.

Nice! Stephen from Own Or Disown and I did a collaboration video at my local MC back in June. It's my favorite brick and mortar store :)

I wish Nashville would get one - we're there all the time. Closest one to me, STL, is 2 hours.

My Parents and I actually inquired about opening a franchise store a while ago, just could never find the right property location for it for an investment of that size.
The one is St. Louis Park, MN is absolutely slammed with a line out the door at practically anytime. It really is one of the only real "Computer Stores" that exist in the wild these days.

There's one in Houston, where I used to visit Fry's when I would go to the city (about 1.5 hours away.) Now I think, "Fry's? What's that?" I mean, they have their computer and portable electronics sections which are pretty large, but then they use the rest of the floor space for appliances, tv's, restaurant, and everything else.

Micro Center is all about PC's and gaming. There's a small section for phones and tablets, but the main theme is PC's and accessories. They even have say, Dell/Alienware sections and other brands. The back of the store is devoted to DIY PC building. Every part you would need, rows and rows and rows all divided up into categories. I can't even imagine the dollar amount of their inventory. I have to be careful when I go there cause I can end up losing meals and sleep from spending all day browsing.
