Nice. Win 7 Pro is also the same price?
And what about that free copy of Pro version from MSDN? -
Can I get it now and then hold onto it (several months)?
-
Wonder when/if it will hit Canada. Though I used my edu email and got it to work. How do you select Win 7 Pro? I can only select 32 or 64-bit Home Premium?
-
I wish they offered Ultimate version though. -
Click where it says "Need to join your school's network domain? Click here" and it should offer you the windows 7 professional upgrade option -
Thanks, ecoDex.
-
so who's got a spare .edu address they'd let me use?
why can't they do something like this for military!?

Also the links you posted before said that students can get free Win 7 pro for free from MSDN??Last edited by a moderator: May 8, 2015 -
Too bad I already ordered two Home Premium upgrades back when they were $50.
I might get one anyway...never know when you might need a spare or three. ^_^ -
-
-
I totally wish high schools gave students .edu addresses.
-
i'm glad i didn't bite when they were having the $50 pre-order sale. i was a bit worried that i might have made the wrong decision. good thing my school allows alumni's to keep their email address forever.
oh and thanks for the head's up again Cin. you should seriously consider working for sites like dealnews and get paid for what you do lol. -
How many can you get?
-
-
Great deal! Probably too good to pass up. I was really wanting the XP emulation mode though... I can't use this to upgrade from Vista Home Premium to 7 Professional, right?
-
When I click on country it says "others coming soon'
Oh and side-note** My university is on msdnaa and has tons of software, including win7, but it's only for ONE class (project manager) out of like twenty million. How much bs is that :/ -
Thanks a lot! This really saves me a bit of hassle

Hmm.. I can see if I can use my friends email to get another.
I get the free one from Dell for my xps 1340. And I want to upgrade my 1720 to 7 professional. -
I told my sister to buy this for me as I'm not a student. I have ordered it but I wont install it on my laptop. I'm selling this to my friend for a small profit because I'm going to buy a new laptop in November so I still get Windows 7 when I'm buying the new laptop.
-
yeah, i thought they were going to do something like this for the military.
-
They still could.
-
Is the download going to be and .iso file??? Then they provide a key?
I'm a little confused by this. I'm assuming that if not there's not way you could do a "clean" installation by the file that you download. -
You download an exe file and they send you the key in your email. What do you mean by clean install? As far as I know it will be...
-
yeah, you download the file from microsoft. they give u the cd key. then u install.
-
Sick deal Cin.
My humble Gateway notebook doesn't qualify for the free Windows 7 upgrade program, unfortunately. It's a lot happier now thanks to you. -
can u use the digital version more than once? say if i need to reformat after already using it once?
-
as long as you have the serial key and the file i don't see a reason why you wouldn't be able to reinstall.
-
Wow this is a sick deal. I need to do this like immediately. Any valid student can do this right?
-
You qualify if you have a valid .EDU e-mail OR an e-mail address through one of the educational institutions listed here.
√ You are enrolled in coursework, current proof or enrollment may be required in the United States.
√ Your PC is able to run Windows 7 - use this tool to check. THIS IS VERY IMPORTANT!
Or: Students attending the following universities/college that do not provide .EDU email addresses are eligible to purchase from the Microsoft Academic Promotions:
Universities/Colleges
and, /or:
The following conditions serve to define student eligibility for the Promotion:
( Academic Offer Info)
1. .edu: Individual must possess a valid e-mail address at a U.S. educational institution which contains the domain suffix .edu; OR
Pre-Approved School List: Enrolled in a U.S. educational institution included on the pre-approved school list; OR
Submission of school enrollment: Submit verifiable school enrollment via the validation process; AND
2. Individual must be a student at a U.S. educational institution and must be actively enrolled in at least 0.5 course credit and be able to provide proof of enrollment upon request.
Hope that helps!

So a clean install may be done without a version of vista being installed? I'm getting all my friends to buy one each. Monopolize the W7 market
muahahaha -
Can I down load it and then transfer it to another computer? And how big is the download?
-
Yeah so since this is a download what happens in the future if someone needs to reinstall it due to a hard drive failure or w/e?
Is there a way to get a backup disc? And is there any difference between buying an upgrade as opposed to the retail version? -
you can order backup for additional fee i think $13. also you're downloading the file so i'm assuming you can save the file for future use.
-
-
I would be buying it now and then down the road transfer it to another computer (in a few months)
-
That should be fine. You can download it and install it any time.
-
so, can you clean install with this, it seems like the question wasnt answered
-
Yes, this is should be the full Windows 7 executable installer so you can clean install or upgrade. I'm not sure if you will need to burn to DVD first or if USB will work... I've only had experience with the Ultimate Steal (Office 2007) deal.
Windows 7 upgrade for $29.95 (you will need to be an enrolled student)
