If you've purchased your new computer after June 2, 2012 (with windows 7) you are eligible for a Win 8 pro upgrade for $14.99.
Here's what you have to do:
Go to https://windowsupgradeoffer.com/en-US and enter your information with a valid email address
They will send you a registration ID
After receiving that, go to https://www.windowsupgradeoffer.com/en-US/MyOrder and enter in the registration ID. Make note of the promo-code they give you.
Then run the win 8 upgrade assistant, it will scan your computer for incompatable programs/drivers.
After it is done scanning, enter the promo code that they gave you and it will drop the price down to $14.99...
You can then save the file as an ISO or make a bootable USB drive (nice touch if you ask me).
Please note, I saw this deal at slickdeals and it worked for me...
I haven't installed it yet, but I plan on doing it because I need to know how to work win 8 so I can fix problems when customers bring in their broken new computers.

I registered for this a while back (With a computer that I eventually returned), They sent me the promo code last night. I am going to try this for my windows 7 partition on my mac. Having the iso is really nice, any clue what size USB is needed? I Have a 16gb lying around but would probably just amazon an 8gb if that is all it needs.

4GB should be fine. Just added files from ISO to my 4GB USB thumb drive and installed that way.

Ya, I figured I'd get right to it and my promo code worked.
It downloaded and when I asked it to install to a flash drive, it said it only required 3gb. I luckily had a 4gb laying around. I can't wait to see how everything looks at 2880x1800, the Win7 scaling was pretty good and actually usable at native resolution.
Just for conformation, the "Install to media" option creates the bootable USB right? I think in the past I did it some other way and had to get another program to make it work. I read that Win8 makes it easy, but it just seems way too easy. -
