Hi folks. Hope this is ok to post here; Just let me know if it should be in a different department.
I'm in the market for a laptop, probably Dell or Lenovo Thinkpad. Do you think the Black Friday/Post-Thanksgiving deals tend to really be better than what one can get now? Or would it would be just as good to look around for the best coupons and promotions now and make the purchase. Thanks!![]()

There will always be deals and coupons for the holiday season. Whether or not there will be a deal/coupon for the specific laptop model you want is a different story.
If you can afford to wait, I say wait. Worst case scenario is that they do not offer any discounts on the laptop model you want. But then you would be in no worse shape than you are in right now anyway. -
Black friday traditionally deeply discounts only cheap junky things nobody wants, or niche items that were hard for retailers to sell. -
I was in the same boat as the OP this time last year.
Needless to say, I was disappointed by the BF pricing on notebooks. If memory serves me right, Lenovo had some pretty decent deals the week preceding BF and HP had their usual awesome $400-450 off. If you're looking at online retailers, they won't really have any incredible deals on laptops that most of us would actually want. Best Buy will only have their worst laptops at "lowest prices of the year" that people will camp overnight for.
Ericyp is right, all the BF specials are really just clearance items that can pretty much be found year round on sites like techbargains. My only regret is not taking advantage of BCB more while it was still around...
Here's some advice, if you see a Dell outlet coupon pop up (around 20-25%) JUMP ON THAT. It truly is the best bang for your buck. I picked up a Dell Latitude E4310 fully loaded with every possible option for $725 including a 128gb SSD! If you purchased it new, it would configure to over $2500. It really looked brand new, much better than HP or Asus' refurbs and it comes with a 3 year warranty. I'm anxiously waiting for the next Dell outlet coupon code so I can pick up a Dell XT2 -
Awesome. Thanks for the help. Terrible lie: Anywhere in particular you would keep your eye out for that coupon? Retailmenot?

I frequent techbargains, but I think slickdeals is usually quicker to report deals.
If you're looking for Dell outlet coupons, Dell has a Twitter page that posts the latest outlet coupon codes. -
Here is the LINK, also outside of Dell's Twitter link, if your a Facebook User they will post any deals on there also. LINK
Outside resources for codes would also be: www.xpbargains.com,
Right now there is a Code for 15% thru 11/17. As of recent, the % coupons at the Outlet have been around 20%.
Here is one for 15%:
15% off all Dell Outlet Home Laptops and Desktops! Enter code 6MKBT4XFWS6DL4 at checkout. Online only.
As for the rest. If you find a good deal go for it & you think that's the system you want.
I think closer to the holidays you are going to see better outlet coupons coming around & some greater deals at Dell Home, itself.
If you looking to purchase directly thru Dell & want greater savings on top of any applicable discounts, you should check out www.ebates.com, right now their CB program for Dell home is @4% ~ sometimes CB' amounts at stores are doubled depending on the Promo running. Also, if you bank with Bank Of America, they have a " Add It Up" program. It's CB into your account thru Online & Instore Retailers that work with the program, and Dell is one of them.
