Not sure where else to place this, so here goes...
Feb 18th - 25th no buying or selling activity on the Bay in order to stand up against the recent changes and the new CEO.
Apparently its already been aired on CNN, Fox, MSNBC, etc., pretty big strike if they picked it up.

eh i thought ebay lowered the fees including FVP recently and new feedback system didn't seem like a big deal since only real change was % calculated. i guess there are changes that hurt some more than others.

Seems rather short-sighted as the changes do not go into effect for awhile yet.

eBay lowered insertion fees and upped selling fees. It'll help if your items don't sell and whack you if they do. The rule changes don't seem very buyer-friendly either.
I try to sell on the local Craigslist whenever I can these days. eBay's fees were already insane. If Google were to start a competing auction site I'd switch over in a heartbeat. Since eBay's selling fees are a percentage, shouldn't growth in selling volume be more than enough by itself?
Other than being overpriced I like eBay, though after the rule changes kick in... dunno. -
lol, don't use ebay anyway... maybe I just pop around there to bog down there servers... now if everyone did that... who knows?
or even better everyone can just cancel there accounts... simple? -
thank god i already orderd my PS3 Dual Shock 3 Sixaxies controller. which im gonna use for pc ...

I read starting May eBay will not longer allow sellers to leave negative feedback. I'm thinking another strike?
-
I see eBay going downhill fast for most casual users, but there are a lot of stores on there that will most likely continue to do business there as they have nowhere else to turn as that is their main avenue of income.
Maybe Google should come up with a new auction site, I've heard they considered it in the past, there was a petition a long time ago. -

Amazon FTW!

I've been using amazon a little more recently. Been selling my cd collection on amazon. For how much the cd's were selling for I would have probably lost money if I would have sold them on ebay with the damn insertion fees.
-
I agree, we need more competition so eBay can't keep raising their fees and changing how the feedback system works. Come on google!
-
I've been screwed by two sellers who left negative feedback after they sold me DEFECTIVE items and never admitted it.
-
ebay can be a great place if you're looking for a bargain but you also have to realize that it comes at the price of certain amount of risks involved. ebay isn't for everyone hence why many will refuse to even consider ebay.
-
Id say 95% of the sellers out there put in their auctions "We leave feedback after you give us ours". Sorry but thats not how it works. A buyer paid for their merchandise on time and did everything right. You should leave them feedback.
The reason sellers wait for what the buyer said in their feedback is because if its negative, then the seller will turn around and leave the buyer negative feedback for no reason or no feedback at all.
So many sellers just dont leave feedback anymore and buyers only give good feedback to get good feedback in return, regardless of how the deal went down. -
you can't ignore the fact that there are stupid buyers out there that couldn't be bothered to read the entire auction and be disappointed w/ what they got when in actuality it was clearly stated in the auction itself. i think that's disservice to the seller.
-
True - but even if the the buyer does leave negative feedback because they didnt read the entire auction, that doesnt mean the seller can retaliate and suddenly give that buyer negative feedback because they dont like what was said.
And that goes both ways too - theres plenty of sellers who knowingly sell a product that isnt close to what they have in their auction. -
I have had buyers stupid enough to leave feedback before they actually got the item! But not allowing sellers to leave feedback will force the sellers to give into what the buyers want. Such as if the buyer is not satisfied, they might request a refund and will be able to threaten negative feedback. Some buyers are darn picky. I have a feeling that if this change goes through, within a few months there will be a lot less power sellers on ebay. A power seller has to have a feedback score of above 98%, unless they change that to something more reasonable like 95% or lower.

All I know is that a lot of people missed out on some good deals.
Would it not make more sense to fully exploit eBay prior to the changes and schedule the boycott for after the changes actually go in effect?
