I'd like to get either one of these models from the dell outlet store:

    Dell XPS M1330
    Dell Studio XPS 1340

I've had an XPS M1530 for two years now. the thing runs great, but i do a lot of travelling, so I'd like something smaller (and lighter).

i'm a college student but apparently you don't get a higher education discount on outlet products. on top of that they're charging me sales tax as a TX resident.

to be honest, i don't feel like dropping one large on a laptop thats already discontinued by Dell!

    help anyone??

There are no XPS coupons at present that I am aware of. There will likely be some going out in a email update on 3/14. You might also watch the Dell Outlet Twitter between now then, but I doubt you will see any coupons for XPS.

thanx Chris! Ill start looking into other options then...
i mean i can get a brand new macbook 13 for one large!!

Last year Dell had a "spring cleaning" promotion throughout the outlet store. dont remember if it was 15 or 20 percent... hope they're gonna do it again this year.

Yes they did! Some models/lines did get up to 20% off, but don't believe XPS was one of them. I think it was only 15% off. Hopefully they'll do something similar again soon.

I love my M1330, but I really can't suggest spending much one given the high failure rate of the nVidia models. I am sure the guys on NBR could help you find an alternitive sense over two weeks is long wait. On a side note, there is Dell Outlet Business email update going out this morning. It will likely have 15% off Latitude coupons in it. You might have a look and see if there is anything that would fit your needs. If want one of the coupons PM me.

exactly! right now with sales tax, no educational discount, no promotion, a refurbished (and discontinued) xps M1330 costs between 900 and 1000 depending on the cosmetic condition. id say it's a little too much!!

my advantage is that im not in a hurry: i can wait for the right promotion to come along.

btw isnt it a pity that they retired the XPS M1330-1530 line so quickly?

Yes, that is way to much. But it is very unlikely the prices on M1330's will fall much lower. Once a model is discontinued the Outlet stock drys up so they raise the prices because there a limited number of systems available. If you want a M1330 the best way to go is probably eBay.

Actually, the M1330 and M1530 were available for about two years. That is pretty good for a consumer laptop. To be honest though, I believe they should have discontinued both has soon as the nVidia flaw became appear rather than to continue to sell a defective product. That said, I do wish they had kept the design alive. I still think M1330 and M1530 are some of the best looking laptops ever made.
