I have this drive as an external storage unit and although there's the occasional clicking sounds at idle, it's been a reliable and super quiet drive thus far. It's also worth mentioning that a fair number of people have experienced quality and reliability issues within the first couple months of use (just read user reviews on newegg) and it'll be a gamble when you purchase one.

Wow, so tempted, but that clicking sound worries me. Seagate seems to have a history of that. My notebook seagate was fixed with a firmware update. But if reliability is hit or miss, don't think I'll risk my WHS data to a drive like this. I was waiting for the $99 price point to start buying 2TB one at a time to replace my 1TB drives, but may have to wait for WD green drives.

Anyone have actual experience with these drives? I'm sceptical about buying something with the fairly large amount of user reviews stating clicking and failing drives.
