Thank you for letting me now about ecost.com Truly a good resource for refurbs. Any other notebook refurb sites out there? I've also seen tigerdirect.com

I don't like doing business with Tiger, have had a few questionable experiences. You might also check Ubid.com and Overstock.com.

The question that still lingers: Is it even worth considering refurbished laptops when you can pick up very decent machines (like Averatec for instance) for 700-800 bucks? You get a brand new machine, warranty, and more than likely better specifications. Just a thought.

I looked at overstock.com and they had IBM 900 Mhz P3 laptops for almost 700 dollars. . .it doesn't make sense to purchase one of those when, as previously mentioned, you can snag a MUCH better brand new machine for not even a hundred more.

slat- Have you ever purchased from the website below?

    http://www.analog-ix.com/shop/index.php?cPath=22_27

Do you know anything about them?

Look at the Ferrari price and the Sony GRT 270 price.
    Any suggestions. Thanks in advance.

Whats the regular price elsewhere for that Acer Ferrari?

Look like a lot of laptop for the money..but then again they have numerous websites that offer non-existant deals

Tell it like it is...NOT how it should be :)

I've had great experiences with http://www.clearanceclub.com. They typically sell Sony and Toshiba machines, although they now have a few of the Fujitsu P series machines. I've ordered 2 refurbished machines and 1 new one, never a problem. Courteous people, their inventory count is pretty accurate (you should still call ahead first), and all merchandise was delivered as promised.

Afterthought: Also check out manufacturers web sites. I know Sony offers close out deals directly on Sony Style. I'd imagine at least one or two other manufacturers do the same.
