yes they snap right back together. though i just checked and it is one year even by the drive serial number. so your drive was in the warehouse for 2+ months then if it only has 10months left. i just checked with a freind who is direct with wd he said that wd starts the warr from the manufacturing date not the sales date imo that sucks...

Thats pretty standard, Seagate also does the same; but fortunately they offer longer warranties, whats a couple of months ona 3-5 year warranty ?
But on a 1 year warranty, it matters.

oh i know.. these blue series are really nice drives imo i dont care myself i think if they last the year they will last a while but i agree 100% on a one year they need to not start it from when its made and then it sits on a shelf somewhere like yours. mine check out till jan or feb 2010

    What is blue series ?

One of the rubber caps on one of the drives has a small tear on it, doesnt affect performance, just another minor crib.

All in all, I'm satisfied with the two purchases. If the warranty were longer, I'd have purchased more drives :D

Great information, Thanks to the OP. I picked one of these up, 60 dollars shipped is pretty much unbeatable!
