Yes it appears as though the prices on the pentium M are declining rapidly. First model I have seen under 600 dollars. Price war with AMD?

I had been waiting for a deal like that to push me over the edge. Bought one today, here's an update:

It is in store only, but it is a build your own type deal. So not limited to stock on hand and you can do the normal hp/compaq list of upgrades (brightview, hard drive, processor, overpriced ram, combo drive...)

Very cool. What kind of configuration did you get?

Yes - the RAM is overpriced. ;) Always better to do it aftermarket.

Pretty much stuck with the basics - I had promissed my wife I was shopping for a $600 laptop so I couldn't run up the extras.
I use it in a room with lots of windows so I decided against the glarey brightview. More HD space or a burner would have been nice but I will get by just fine without them.
The wireless that is included in the base price is the intel sans bluetooth which is what I would have chosen anyway.
I will go out and get a stick of 512megs of ram to add to it, otherwise I'm pretty happy with it till a month from now till something better is cheaper. :)

Yeh. I just order one last Monday with the basic config except I added the Brightview. I have a external DVD writer so I OK with just DVD rom. I should received the laptop this week. Ohh, there is no shipping charge this time and that's the reason go for it.

Wow... go for it for that price.. Just chuck a 1GB stick into it once you get it. Get the ram from like Newegg. :)
