does anyone know if walmarts extended warranty on electronics is any good. it is only 68 dollars for 2 years, but looks like you have to pay to mail stuff in.

also, does hp let you purchase extended warranties if you buy from a third party like walmart?

lastly, i am interested in the walmart special, but while scoping it out i saw a dv1215 with 40gb harddrive, pemtium m 125 512 mb ddr ram etc for about 900. i think i saw the same deal at another walmart on clearence for 800 ( i think) do those sound like good deals?

No idea if Wal-Mark's warranties are any good. Yes, HP will let you upgrade the warranty if you purchase at Wal-Mark. If you are looking for a better value, I would suggest the Compaq v2000z on HP.com. It is basically the same notebook as the dv1000 without the media buttons. Retail laptops like at Wal-Mark almost always have slow hard drives which have mediocre performance. The hard drive is usually more imprtant performance wise than the CPU. On HP.com you can customize to a faster hard drive which will greatly improve system performance. For about $850 you can get a Compaq v2000z with AMD Sempron CPU, DVD burner, 5400RPM hard drive and 12 cell battery. Plus you won't have to pay tax on HP. The battery life probably won't be quite as good as the Pentium M, but with the 12 cell it will probably go about five hours. Good Luck.
