I got mine after the school rush and before the xmas season. I got a fairly rare 30% coupon and got the laptop in my sig for $1250. At the time, the same configured (T7200, 160GB, 2GB, Intel wireless, Bluetooth, 3 year warranty) E17505 with 7900GS was around $1550 or so.

I'm guessing the next such astrological happening will be in the week or two following xmas.

You should research what the price of the notebook has been in recent weeks and research what deals and coupons have been popping up. This way you'll know what a "good price" is and won't hesitate pulling the trigger out of fear that the price may still drop a significant amount.

For example, one would generally ignore an $1800 laptop being sold for $1750, but if you know the street price has never dropped a penny and maybe you read from a reliable source that supply is low and the price may even go up a bit, $50 off will look mighty nice.

you should buy an e1705 when there is at least a 25% coupon available

If you can wait until after Christmas or even up into the first week of January I'm sure the prices will be a lot better. The base price went up $50 last week, even though the website still shows it as being -$150 to start. I bought mine last week right before the 25% coupon's expired for $1600 including tax. T7200, 2GBs Ram @ 533 Mhz, Nvidia Card, True Life screen, etc...hope that gives you some help. I have been watching the prices for the last month or so though and would expect them to dip down again after Christmas. Then again if its worth it to you to spend a hundred some dollars more to get it a few weeks earlier then go for it.

Like Doozie35 says, I bet post-Holiday season sales will benefit the buyer.

I wouldn't worry too much about it. If the price is right, you get all the current coupon deals, etc...you really don't have to worry about it.

When I purchased my old M140 I was able to talk the Dell rep down a significant amount of $$$ (mostly discounts for higher RAM/CPU). I wondered the same thing, but went ahead and bit right then and there.

After that, it took eight months for the price on the model to drop enough that you could get a better deal than what I got that day.

All I'm saying: when you see that it is a good deal, don't worry about what *might* come two weeks down the road.
