Can I use a 4.1 speaker in a HP Pavilion dv9700t notebook? I've noticed the notebook has two headphone outputs, so can I connect the green cable and the black cable and I'll get the surround effect? or just get the "simple" sound in all the 4 speaker. Thks in advance for your comments.

Not definite but from an old DV9 series I had, I dont think it is possible. I think those are just two headphone jacks to plug in any headphones: one for your, other for friend...

i dont think surround would be possible with them; they do sell notebook audio cards from Audigy (i think expresscard) that probably allow you to do that... i think they are 50-100 a piece

    post any questions if needed

If there is a special mixer program for your sound card, then check if you can configure the sound card ports. If you can't, then you are out of luck.

I've once done it with a DELL XPS M1210.

I think that's my option.... take a look a the link, and I'll have to buy a surround upgrade Kit (sold separately from the expresscard) to connect my 5.1:
