The touchpad can be painted.
I just painted my touchpad. I removed the sticker over the pressure conductive plastic piece and then sanded that piece of plastic. I used 400grit and then worked to 600 grit sandpaper. Then I airbrushed a few coats of black over the touchpad.
Now I am in the process of leafing the Voodoo mask onto the touchpad.
Once that is finished, I am going to lay down a few layers of clear coat, so that the touchpad does not wear.
You are going to have problems with paint, cause of the heat generated by your laptop. My friend has a c90s, and its always burning to the touch. I dont know how she uses it.
I know that the paint I put in my system, comes strait from Peterbilt. Its a three part paint, which means that the two pigments of red are layed over a silver base.
My paint is rated for 180Fahrenheit. I feel the heat from my friends C90S, and the gpu continually runs around 230F. I hear that this is a problem with the Gddr3 cards, but not with the gddr2 cards.
Anyways, if your system gets really hot, you must check the thermal ratings on the paint you use. Many automotive paints will discolor very quickly if they are subject to extreme heat for long periods of time.

i m interested to hear how well the touchpad function after being painted on. This is always the off-limit area to my laptop mods.

You can test the touchpad, by using index cards. If you can still use your touchpad with three index cards intop of it, than the paint will not affect the touchpad.
If your touchpad becomes unresponsive with one index card on top of it, than the paint will result in unresponsiveness.
My touchpad is sensitive with 6 index cards on it, so it should be responsive with paint, leafings and a clear coat.
