Does anyone out there with the new Asus G73 Gaming laptop know how to remove and replace the Chiclet keys on the laptop???.... I can tell the software to read the KB as Dvorak but I have yet to learn it myself (can't really touch type Dvorak yet)... I had only just started using Dvorak when I needed to get this new laptop... I contacted Asus and they told me the keys are too delicate to be removed which I expect is a load of crap.... I DID however pay a lot for this system and don't want to hose my KB...
I am hoping there is maybe a video some place that shows how to or someone that really knows what they are doing that might be able to help.
Thanx in advance...

The whole keyboard itself should be removable. It certainly looks like it from a quick Google Image search.

Yes and it's $20 for a new one.

Not to be a smartass, but: http://www.google.com/webhp?complet...l=&oq=reattatch+&gs_rfai=&fp=a2bb30ecf4f91972
Not sure about your system, but on Dells it's basically a scissor action. You can squeeze the legs together on the top or the bottom of the key (with the letter facing you) to remove the key, then squeezing the other to completely remove the key.
You will need the patience of a monk and a large bottle of alcohol, but it should be doable (might want to save the alcohol until after though).
Good luck and I want to see pictures if you pull it off! -
yeah but they dont sell a Dvorak replacement..... anyhow I got a link for the proper replacement KB and can practice swapping out the keys on that til I get it right... then do the work on the original... then if i screw up I still have spare parts...
Thanx

<EDIT>
Also to JASON The backlighting on the G73JH and the fact that they are chiclet style keys are the reason I asked how to do it without damaging the KB I managed to move all the keys on my old laptop just fine but this KB is different so I wanted to ask first.... -
Not sure if it's true of the chiclet keys, since I think there's a keyboard layer, then another top layer that makes it looks chiclet-ey.
As for the backlighting, that's typically achieved through a couple LEDs shining into some clear plastic "tubing" to reroute the light to the keys. If you're careful in disassembling the keyboard, it shouldn't be hard to leave the backlighting alone entirely and just rearrange the letters.
You could also just go the sticker route, people have mixed feelings about those.
Asus G73... Dvorak...
