I recently purchased an Asus U35JC-A1 brand new about a week ago. For the money, I love this laptop for its huge battery life, good performance, size and everything else. But I don't know what Asus was thinking using such shiny plastic on the bezel and the top of the battery.

I tried wiping some fingerprints and a bit of dust with a cotton cloth and the bezel scratched. The dust actually scratched it. Every time I wiped something off it, more hairline scratches. At this point it doesn't look like it's 2 weeks old but much older.

Can you guys suggest any way of getting rid of those scratches? Keep in mind they are hairline scratches, so sanding it down would be pointless, and I'd rather not take it apart to paint it.

Edit: I found this guide: http://www.notebookreview.com/default.asp?newsID=4545

But it doesn't seem to remove hairline scratches...

I tried Meguiar's Plastx and it left even more hairline scratches. It absolutely stinks, at least on this type of plastic.

Then I tried Meguiar's Mirror Glaze Pro No17 Clear Plastic Cleaner (yeah, I know it's a long name) and it removed all the hairline scratches and restored the shine. I don't know what composition it has, it may just wax the surface, but it definitely worked.
