Alright, so I had this idea. I've seen some things like the food-tray type things for putting your laptop on, but would it be possible to actually like maybe take out a cd drive and put in a study slide out mousepad into your laptop? Like you could just be anywhere and then slide out the mousepad to play games or something? Sound reasonable? I think it would be useful.

Unless it was built of very sturdy materials, which would increase overall weight and/or cause the chassis to flex dangerously when you lean on it, you'd be better off just carrying a stiff pad separately. This presumes you're trying to mouse on an unstable surface.

Could be a good idea for a company to implement into a laptop from the start imo

Get a cloth pad and stick it between your keyboard and display when your laptop is closed. Keeps keyboard clean, protects display, becomes large mousepad. Done.
