    Charger not detected, but battery is. Can I connect a charger to the battery connector?

    So I have a Dell M1330 that doesn't detect the charger (so can't charge the battery and can't run plugged directly to the charger), but it works without any problem when working from the battery.

    So, I was wondering if I could connect the/a charger directly to the battery to charge it and use it OR get ride of the battery and connect the/a charger directly to the battery port. I would need a 11.1V power supply I guess (that's the battery voltage).

    Any ideas if this is even possible?
    I haven't been able to find any information, at most the battery pinout/pinin, but that's about it.

    I think that fixing power connector is a way better solution...

    Your power adapter might be defective. You can find a new one on eBay for $15. Make sure you get an OEM Dell adapter, and not a cheap Chinese fake.

    The power connector works (at least I get voltage from under the motherboard).

    Tried with 3 different power adapterts which work on other machines. So no, it's not the carger.

    Ok, you can find a new jack on eBay for under $5.

    If I can check the voltages from under the motherboard, shouldn't this mean that the power jack works ?

    It might not need a new jack. However, the Dell 1525 had a jack problem where it wouldn't recognize the adapter nor would it charge the battery. But, it will still power on and run of the adapter. To fix it, you had to replace the power jack.
