I customized the lid of my e1505 today, I printed out some pictures, half of it is my own artwork (the red furry foxes) and taped it to the lid of my laptop to give it a bit of color.
Whacha think

It's pretty cool. The artwork is awesome. I think it might be better if you chose one of the bigger pictures and put it in the center, because then it would be less busy and it would get more attention. You can get a custom sticker made by Schtickers or SkinIt or probably some other "skin" maker to make it more slick (i.e. no tape, the whole surface shiny). Or for a cheaper DIY solution, position all the pieces, stick them with tape but only on the back, and then get packing tape (preferably by 3M because it's thicker and more durable, but really, dollar store stuff will do) and go over everything. Go slow from right to left to make sure you don't get any air bubbles in. It works well. I made some folders for school that way once, it was awesome - and made the folders more durable, too.
Or if you want something that can be easily changed until you settle on a design, you can get clearer tape. I don't know if it has a special name or anything, all I know is I use something that has "super clear tape" printed on the ring on the inside and you can see it all the way through the tape and I got it at Wallgreens. I think it's also more sticky than more matte tapes. It costs the same as other tapes and works well for other things, like gift wrapping, because it's hard to see.

I taped it with regular scotch tape
-
no offence but it looks really messy.

Iceman0124 More news from nowhere
that would look alot better if you used a sheet of clear contact paper covering the entire lid, it would about the same to remove it, it would just look a lot cleaner, and add protection to the artwork, as well as prevent minor scratched to the lid itself
-
really poor execution. the tape looks terrible and the images will rip if they're not laminated. you might want to try getting some sticker paper for your printer and making your own stickers. or instead of using scotch tape, try getting some form of laminate that will adhere to plastic and use it to cover the whole lid.

Ghetto..........Big time!!!!
-
OMFG what is this?! I hope it's a joke cause if not...<puke>
-
wow.... No Comment.
-
ghettofab. stickers would make it a bit cleaner :|

Yeah, I'd have to agree that this looks pretty ghetto....although on the other hand, it's your notebook, so if it makes you happy then that is all that (really) matters.
The other thing about this is that at least it's very easy to return the notebook to it's virgin state. That can't be said for many other ways of customizing. -
Rofl, that poor laptop. Ha, but if it looks cool to you our opinions dont really matter.
-
Good effort, many seem to be 'surprised' by the transformation, to say the least. But do as suggested, and get high quality tape, the pictures printed on high quality paper (or actual sticker paper) and make it look sharp.
-
WOW!! ya coldda atleast used a sheet of laminent. It costs about a buck and it would have looked alot better.
Oh and you put the pictures on wrong.
When you open the lid, people will see everything upside down.
What you did was sorta like a poor guy's custom job.
Nice try, but next time use a printer to merge the pics into one piece of paper then use a clear sheet of laminent to cover it. -
It's like a 5th grader attacked your laptop...with scotch tape...and foxes....
w/e floats your boat -
Is this only for your personal enjoyment or do you expect others to see your work? Like other posters have said before, you should get clear tape. I would also take off the Intel logo, it looks out of place.
-
See to you it looks straight but when the laptop lid is open to anyone else it will be upside down. Other then the scotch tape great work
-
I like it! Its way less tacky than the other mods. Points for origniality, and presentation.
-
the purple type of schotch tape would show up less, its the invisable kind for gift wrapping.
-
its really well done, good workmanship. looks professional.
-
Takes me back to 3rd grade when I did something similar on my notebook (The paper kind
).

usapatriot Notebook Nobel Laureate
it doesnt look good.......
telling you the truth... -
LOl rather go buy a nice vinyl sticker! not that expensive.
-
I really like it. Don't listen to what everybody else says.
-
I think it rocks. The scotch tape adds some style too it =) I dont think it would have the same feel to it if you went and made it look nicer.
If you tried to make it look nicer with better tape, it would look like you were super elaborate on some half assed ****. This way looks like you threw some cool **** on there just cuz its cool and you werent worried about what people though =) Thats cool ****. -
It's different. Which if you ask me is quite refreshing.
-
Looks fine to me
-
yea no kidding, no offense or anything but that looks friggin ugly!!!
-
Don't mind all the comments, I think it looks good. Creativity is what matters. I personally issues such as larger images and better use of tape would make it look much better. Maybe if you created a sort of 'collage'? where you fill up all the blank spaces and give it a more 'abstract' look with your fav/prefered pictures, it would look pretty decent!
-
I think it looks alright, but I'd put the pictures the other way around so they're upright when you open it.
Cheers
