I wanna color some of my keyboard letters green, like the Asus G1. I have a Compal IFL90, and green would work well because it fits in with all the blue l.e.d.s and it's my favorite color. I already sharpied WSAD, left shift and left control, but it seems easily smearing. Is sharpie the best thing to use? What else could I use (I don't think I'd get so radical as to apply paint, but I'm all ears).

The letters on the Asus G1(s) are stickers applied to the keyboard.
-
Does that mean I can order them?
-
probably not, but you might be able to make your own stickers.
-
Is there anything I can apply on my current letters that won't fade away?
-
vashts121, Hawkshark already answered your second question. He told you that you could make your own stickers. So what you could do is measure the length of the letter that you want, then either sharpie or make the letter green in photoshop. then cut it out and then paste it on the key in such a way that it doesnt come out. If you use tape, you might have to pry out the key (not responsible if u cant fit it back. I did it and it was a pain to get it back in) or you could use superglue or something. I think the easiest and probably the longest way to do this is by covering the whole computer from the inside. Then when ur done that, make a stencil - print or sharpie the thing and then just cut it with an x-acto knife. Now paste it where you want the key to be green, then spraypaint it. I dont think that stuff goes away easily except clothes. If you are still unsure, apply a couple of coats. If you are unsure after reading this long post, then i would suggest that just get a G1-S or G2-S for gaming.

make your own or buy some

pop each key off sharpie them, then give them a nice coat of clear? would that work?
-
-
What is "clear", and where can I get it? What does it do exactly? Btw, the coloring on the keys is actually holding up good, I applied many times throughout the day but I think the sharpie is dead (before applying to my laptop) so I am going to buy a new one and retry.
-
You could find a dead computer with similar keys and replace yours with them.
-
Did you service the keyboard?
-
No, I bought a new sharpie (the first one I used was dying) and it looks really good. Some parts of the letters were darker than others, so I just got paper and smudged it out, it looks really good, you probably can't even tell I sharpied it unless you get close and see that its dark around the letters because if sloppy job lol, but good thing the keys are black. -sorry for the pic quality, it's hard to get the lighting right with the blackberry-
