Compaq V2000 mod project

My name is Ishai Gun and I live in Mexico City. (Sorry about the occasional bad english)
I'm currently working on a compaq v2000 project, i want to share it with you people to see what you think.
It is a gift for my girlfriend, once you see the paintjob you will know what kind of things she like, yep she's very girly.
She doesn't know i'm doing this, so i tried to make it as good as possible, she's on a trip to the US right now.
I have never done a paintjob before, this forum helped me a lot, specially the guy with the red v2000, as we worked with the same notebook model.

This is how the computer looked at the begining:



So, I decided to paint it pink, and the touchpad/upper-buttons frame matte white.
Here in Mexico i didn't found too much paint options, i went with Comex's "Aero Comex", an acrylic paint, i bought pink, white and clear for coating.
I know this is not the best paint for the job, it is somewhat brittle, but i managed to get it right by sanding the plastic a little.

Yeah, my working space is a mess! at least I had a pretty big window just beside me, and completely opened btw!
Here you can also see another piece completely painted.

This piece was a very difficult one, i had to do it all over again because I touched the paint when it was still wet, BIG MISTAKE.

So, the next pictures shows the finished paintjob, see the pink paint at the speakers, I already took care of it.




In the next pictures you can see the paint finish, THESE ARE EXTREME MACROS!
There are some strange particles and weird stuff, i'll guess it is just the paint, anyway the paint is nice and uniform to the naked eye.

So, i was very satisfied with the paintjob, but i was not convinced with the screen cover (the upper dark grey part wich has the compaq logo), I wanted something more, i decided to somehow paste a plush with her name and some drawings.
I found a drawing she made of herself and her name with her own letter style (or font, you got the idea) I went to a special place to sew it on the plush. after a week i got it.



Now I had to knew HOW I was going to be able to paste the plush into the screen cover without messing up the plush and still being strongly bounded.
I pasted it with cold sillicon (maybe it's called liquid sillicon in english? no idea) a liquid plastic like substance that you spread around the two surfaces to be bound, then it quickly dries, you paste them together and they will stick like crazy, and because of the little amounts needed it didn't messed the plush.

So my project is mostly done, at least cosmetically, some details remain to be done. I hope my gf likes it!

Wow! I can't say that it's exactly my taste in designer laptops, but that is a heck of a lot of work, and a good result for a beginner. I hope your g/f appreciates how much effort you put into it.
