Hi all,
So recently I OC'd my laptop's GPU... so my GPU is gettin abit too hot when playing games...
Although I thought about getting those Thermal Pastes and applying them to the GPU and CPU... but there I found a sticker at the back of the laptop when I opened it up that said "Warranty void if removed" or whatever... =.=;;;
So instead i'm thinking of making a little fan that points towards the bottom of the case (through the vent where the GPU is) so that it channels more air into the laptop case...
Online, I see the case fans requiring 12Volts... and so far, USB cables do 5Volts... so I dun think those case fans would work if I splice them up and hook em up...
So my question is... three things...
1> what are some 5V case fans that are out in the market currently? (or are they discontinued cuz they are old school?)
2> What if I connect "two" USB cables (in series) to the case fan? (total of 10V is being outputed... but would it work on those 12V fans? kinda?)
3> which option is better? finding a 5V fan or hooking two USBs in series?
Thanks for your help

I think the link above is your best option but if you have the tools to solder you can get a fan like this, (they have other sizes available but this was the biggest). Ball bearing fans are the quietest and usually last the longest. Then purchase at least 2 usb male ends, in-case you screw one up
.
This diagram will give you the pin layout. You would use pin 1 and 4.
I made a cooler for my laptop when I'm at work using stuff around my work. I'll post a pic of it but I used a couple of small 5v fans we had at work. -

12v fans run fine at 5v.
They are just quieter...
theres not much 'creation' you can power a fan or not..
Creating a USB powered fan...
