Hey Guys.. i need some advice :)

I'm thinking of painting my laptop as its getting on a bit now and has quite a few scratches etc.

Its a Vaio CR series machine, however I'm actually wondering what's the best way to go about doing this. I've not done anything like this before and tbh it seems like quite a mission to do it.

The colour of my laptop is black and it has a silver trim around the edge. Actually its identical to this one

The trims got quite a few scratches on it and from the exposed area I can see a reddish colour underneath.

The Lid has also developed a few scratches and i would like to give it a paint job. I can also see bits of red underneath parts where the black colour has worn away around the edges. I don't know if sony used a red base colour :S or if its something completely different.

A mate of mine suggested that the silver lining has been galvanised and now its wearing away which is why its coming out reddish colour now, however i wouldn't have thought the same applied to the plastic type lid cover.

anywhoo if anyone has any idea on how to restore the silver edge lining and also how I should go about painting the actual case I would be really grateful.
