What tool to use for cutting the plastic (thickness about 2.5mm)?
---------------
Another question, how to do a 3 pin fan to usb mod?

if your not quite as manly and powertoolsish as the others
...
try some metal shears. a good heavy duty pair of those babies can cut straight through a coil of 16 gauge wire (chainmailing, anyone?) or probably about the same thickness of sheet metal. clean cut too! -
Just trying to be helpful. -
so you have a W-I-D-E screen then PurpleSkyz?

If you need to ask what tool, you probably should stop now before you hurt yourself or your laptop.
Any particular reason for cutting it?
Please don't say to "improve" the cooling, laptop cooling is often very precision work. If you really need that kind of power and cooling you should consider a desktop. Which is also bucket loads cheaper when you end up damaging something. -

H.A.L. 9000 Occam's Chainsaw
Dremel MOST CERTAINLY. That will do pretty much anything you need to do precision wise.
@PurpleSkyz
They're about to take out my favorite pub with that thing!! -

it requires a certain amount of research and experience even in using a hobby saw... (i tried to mod a car model way back when... needless to say... it was a mistake)
even a dremel requires practice. -

It's for better cooling, cuz the cover completely covered the intake fan and caused about 15C+ temp. difference. It was a small cut, however before doing it, I did some practicing with the Dremel tool with a plastic cutting bit. Also added some extra fan filter :
