I have a hp pavillion model n5130 I replaced a bad dc jack and when I plugged in the Ac adapter it lit up, but when i tested it by touching the cord, the light blinked and I thought maybe the dc jack wasnt soldered tight enough, so I went back in and de-soldered it and soldered it back, the prongs were still tight and all but when I plugged it back up, there was no power light at all not even by wiggling the cord. I dont think the board has a copper sleeve, any suggestions on what I should do ? I believe the dc jack is still good, I wonder if i should just de-solder and clean the prongs good any help ? I'll check first I was told to make sure I dont have a cold solder, that sounds like a posability since i re soldered it.

If possible test the power adapter's connector where it plugs into the DC jack, it may also be broken. If your solder job doesn't look clean, you should probably redo it.

Did you actually replace the jack, or just re-solder it?
If the copper sleeve is pulled from the board you'll have to jump a wire from somewhere else farther down the trace. It can be tricky but I've done it a few times.

Yes I replaced the dc jack, and it worked at first, but when I wiggled the cord it still knocked off the power light, so I tried to de solder but didnt remove the jack out, just re soldered it, now theres no power light at all.

I did test the ac adapter it is good, i will maybe try to de solder and clean the flux on the board and try to re solder, it worked at first but the power light still kicked off when I wiggled the power cord, so I thought I had a cold solder .
