Hey I was just curious what ya'll thought about Dell's latest deal offering free skins for the outside of their e1405. Do you think any of them are cool or not? Just curious. Thanks for the input
-
I think they are ugly. They are not snap on covers they are stickers and if you try to remove them the sticky residue stays there
-
I don't really think they look good at all. They sort of go against the whole trend in modern laptop design - modern and crisp and sleek. Slap the sticker on there and the panel just looks so completely out of place.
-
If only you could make one yourself, and have dell print it and sent it to you. I really didn't see anything worth getting...
-
there are places that you can have a vinyl sticker done at... i actually had one done recently for free but my dad knew the artist and she did it completely free, once i get my new computer i shall post some pictures of the vinyl sticker and my new lappy...
and to not be totally off topic...
the top left red and black dragon skin looks neat on the back of the dell... but thats the only one that is eye catching... the flames one looks like a 5 year old that just learned how to make shapes did it... its solid red yellow and orange wow that doesnt even have shading ... .... *cries* -
-
maybe the worst idea Dell has come up with. I don't know what they were thinking. It is not like you can send in your own image. Anyway, who wants to make their laptop ugly with that...
-
I have inspiron E1705 and I wouldn't call it "sleek" it is definitely OK looking, has solid construction and good performance, but the white trim is ridiculous. So if you see a vinyl skin you like Dell could use some "prettying up", just don't expect it to be a "chick magnet".
I must say though that Dell skin offering is ridiculous, their skins range from ugly to mediocre. -
I don't think any laptop is a "chick magnet" lol
-
Ugly maybe, but not ridiculous. Dell is giving free stuff for crying out loud!
Anyways I like the bamboo one. -
I just got the fish one...i dont know if ill put it on, but hey, i got it for free!

I was wondering if anyone could upload or know where i could find a template of the skin for the E1405. I was planning to buy an adhesive carbon fiber sheet from ebay or somethign and cut it out to put on the top lid of my laptop. Just wanted to get it right and exact the first time cutting because don't want to spend too much money with trial and error buying more sheets.
Has anyone done this yet? If so can someone link me, so that i can see how it came out?? TIA!
