I know there is a desktopreview forums, but that place is dead as a doornail.
I miss the desktop hardware forums
I am looking into an HP Desktop with quadcore.

My main question is, within these prebuilt desktops, are there bays to add more hard drives?

you should see Desktopreview.com I am sure someone has asked this. I if you had posted I would have responded with that same answer.

but... all HP pavillions I have worked with have all had 2 brackets for HDD's. I won't call them 'bays' as they often are just 4 braces that you can mount the disk to. one will be used for the disk drive that comes with the machine which will leave one open(unless it ships with 2 disk drives).

    they are located:
    one behind front panel.
one (I think) on the bottom of the case.

I think they do, look at the user or service manual of the specific desktop, it will list the available options/drive bays for upgrades.

P.S : When did adding a new HDD become a "Cosmetic Modification" :p

Yeah, you will be able to add additional hard drives. Probably just two bays though.
