hi
plan on making a laptop cooler with these fans here: Newegg.com - Rosewill RFA-120-BL 120mm 4 Blue LEDs LED Case Fan
but im not very good with electrical stuff
what else do i need to buy to power these things up ?
i have a few desktop psu's lying around that would work but obviously those are much larger than i would like to use for this thing
thanks

thanks for the response jrs
so looks like if i get this
Amazon.com: Coolerguys 110v AC to 12 / 5v DC 4pin Molex 2A Power Adapter: Electronics
and this
Amazon.com: Manual 12V DC Variable Speed controller 4 pin Molex to dual 3 pin connector: Computers & Accessories
i should be good to go right?
btw im not sure what i would use that usb adapter thing for can u explain?? -
Use the usb adapter if you wanted power without a brick, either right from your laptop or from a usb hub. The power brick is a better solution though as you could power five or six fans off it if you wanted.
Edited to add: I'm not proponent of laptop coolers. I think for the cost and bulk they do little and are rarely worth it, especially if the laptop moves around often and the cooler is always left behind. Getting the laptop setup so it has good airflow under it is good enough for me. -
thing is with the usb is i dont want to be drawing any more power from my laptop than i need to so i think ill use the wall plug adapter
im only going to be using two of those fans that i posted though -
i want to overclock a bit and want to make sure i will always have adequate cooling for this while im at my desk
most laptop coolers on market are overpriced and/or have negligible cooling abilities hence why im making my own -
Hope your project goes well. -
bought all the supplies i needed
theyre shipping as i type this
Diy Laptop Cooler
