Ok, Ive got those hideous blue stickers on either side of my touchpad, how on earth can I remove them? I tried peeling at a corner, but they arent the kind that come off in one piece. Any help?

can you post a pic? that might help us figure out more about those stickers.

Are you talking about the big stickers that have all the system specs and such on it from like, HP or whatnot? Best bet is to just go slowly and carefully, and then clean it with isopropyl alcohol afterwards. Put the alcohol on the rag and then wipe it, not directly on the machine! And make sure the computer is off while doing this, and remove the battery/unplug it.

Yes, its an HP Dv5000, and its got those annoying huge stickers on either side of the touchpad that show system specs, and I will try that, any other ideas?

You could try a heat gun(a blow dryer) it usually helps to get the adhesive warm. You want to be careful using chemicals on it though, because some of them might take your paints off. I would sugest goof off, but I'm pretty sure that it would take the paint off too, but its great for taking the glue off also.

Ive safely used GooGone on laptops before. Just make sure its off, and don't use more than you need, and be very very careful.

I just got the super-sticky stickers off my new notebook by getting a single corner raised up, and then yanking them off using some heavy-duty pliers.
Only way I could actually continue to peel them back without tearing them to shreds.

Scrape off what you can, then buy an IPA (isopropyl alcohol) spray (for cleaning lenses), apply, and it's all gone. Or, alternatively, use a pencil eraser.

if you peel stickers slowly enough, they won't leave much (if any residue). my new laptop had (i think) three stickers. possibly four.
anyway, i spent about three minutes per sticker peeling it off little by little. no leftover crap either! -
I agree with night2004 , i also had 2 stickers on my dv5000 on both sides of the touch pad and I get rid of them by peeling them slowly and one at a time without leaving any residue.

Wooh, took em off in about 5 minutes in Geography class. no residue either, but the area they covered is EVER SO SLIGHTLY lighter than the surrounding area, what can I do about it?
-
after use, the lighter patch will become the same colour as the darker, i had the same problem. Just ignore it and eventually it will blend in.
