I recently got a dv5t, and I was wondering if the HP Imprint paint on the back of the screen is any different from, say, Dell's paint (ie. sanding, prepping, krylon).
The threads I have searched so far have not really told me anything about actually painting it.
I am hoping to repaint the back of the screen white and adding an Aperture Science logo. XD.

vand00r, painting your laptop will void your warranty, so to be on the safe side, buy a second lid through ebay, or through hp, just so you can have a painted lid. If god forbid your system brakes, just remove the painted lid, and put the stock one on and hp will have never known you painted it :D
I was told that painting doesnt void my warranty, but after I painted it, they said the paint voided the warranty, people can be real jerks and lie to you, so your best bet is to have two screens, so you can always make your system stock again if you have to send it in to be serviced.

Usually you can just lightly sand the surface, use primer, and then some krylon fusion spraypaint. In between each coat, you should wetsand the paint, after each layer has dried. After the paint is all dry and to your liking, add a few layers of clear coat to seal the deal
