Hi, I'm new around and looking for a good advice upgrading my laptop, 2 y/o. I want a matte screen with 1680/1050 resolution. The 1280/800 glossy screen is too reflective for daily working, occasionally gaming& photo editing. The video card is ATI Radeon x200, which supports only 1680/1200. Also, I want to upgrade from Athlon 64 3200+ to a double core CPU.
Are these changes possible? Please give me a reply.
Thanks,
Simona

Thanks for the reply. Where shall I look for a laptop with 1680/1050 matte screen, antiglare? I mean, acceptable in price, cannot spent $2,000.

brianstretch Notebook Virtuoso
Maybe a HP 6715b business-class notebook? That'd be a much improved version of what you have. No dedicated memory GPU option but if your gaming needs are modest the integrated Radeon X1250 will do.

im sure the screen can be replaced continue to check ebay and other online places..

Thanks a lot, "
I found a 15.4 in matte WSGA screen on ebay, but belonging to another brand. My HP zv6000 has ATI x200 video card, only supporting 1600x1200 closest resolution. Do I have to change the video card to fit in the new screen?
And none has answered me if I can upgrade my AMD 3200+ to a dual core... any idea?
Thanks -
Well if you are in the market for a new notebook I would definetly recomend the Sager 2090 from XoticPC.com! It's a 15.4" and it can be customized with a 1680x1050 matte screen...see sig for more specs!

A computer with 1680 x 1050 matte screen won run you anything near 2k. As rexdp10 said the 2090 is a fantastic option depending on what your other requirements. If thats more power than you want you can get a nicely spec'd Vostro 1500 for under 1k. At this point frustration + price for parts =/= satisfaction, i would get a new notebook.

My HP cannot support more upgrades than RAM increase and a faster hdd, most likely. So, Sager 2090 from XoticPC.com seems like a good option. Newegg has some affordable Asus these days. But, as my needs re;late to office work, I was thinking of an HP 8510, which has a nice review here, with a wide angle matte screen.... but the price is terrible ! Does any1 know where i could fing a reasonable price for it? Or another brand ... ?
