Hey, I just got a Lenovo thinkpad edge e420 and I believe it has a matte top cover/palm rests etc. It has quite a rubbery feel to it which is why I am not sure how to clean it, How do I clean it? and get dust off it?

Also how do i get dust out from in between keys (other than a compressed air can) ?

and I was actually looking at a zagg invisible shield for the cover and palm rests. Is it worth it? do the matte surfaces scratch/wear easily? If anyone has one or knows, is the skin very noticeable? and how does it feel once the skin is on?

For matte surfaces, I just use a microfiber cloth/towel - it works perfectly. It also works for the display and keyboard. For hard to reach places, I use a simple *soft* paint brush to get the dust out (works for the heatsink and fan, too, sometimes better than compressed air).
    Hope that helps...

Not if its glass, but I think wiping it with alcohol will make a display blurry over time...

How is a matte screen different than a glossy screen other than appearance? Does one screen show dead pixels more than the other? Are the graphics clearer on one than the other? Is one easier on the eyes for extended use? I'm in the process of buying a new laptop, and have the option of going glossy or matte.

the zagg invisi shield would be great for the palm rest and would be easier to clean as well.

however not sure how much the cost would for the customization for your laptop, also it does turn to a yellowish brown color over time but does give great protection for scratches and dirt.

Generally Matte is glare resistant, especially when used outside compared to Glossy. If you post the model you are considering we can give a better answer.

You could take the keys off to get junk out, but compressed air is usually the best option.
