Most notebooks, Samsung include are a variation of silver in color... how BORING! :p
So I painted my Samsung Ultrabook 13" Series 5 NP540U3C notebook.

Nice paintjob. I took a look at your page and the XPS turned out sweet!

IMO, this samsung would have looked better with a deep purple or midnight black color with the sparkles in it. But that's me, not you. Excellent work!

John Ratsey made this comment below in the Samsung area, and I thought I'd post it here as well:

Actually this was one of the easier ones I did. Did NOT have to mask anything!
The others I did was some painstaking, time consuming masking.
First I got this: (9 colors to choose from)
iPearl mCover Hard Shell Case for New 13.3" Samsung Series 5 NP540U3C Ultrabook laptop (Red)
    http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00C47X34C/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o04_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1
I didn't like the clear look on it so I figured I'd paint it the color I wanted, Cherry Metalflake Red.
First, I roughed it up with 2,000 grit sandpaper.
    Wiped clean with alcohol.
Then sprayed 10 coats of krylon Glitter Blast Cherry Red Metalflake, 10 minutes apart.
Then sprayed 10 coats of Krylon Glitter Blast Clear Sealer, 10 minutes apart.
While applying Krylon Glitter Blast Clear Sealer is not required, a few coats of it will make the surface smooth.
Let dry for 24 hours and it's ready for daily use!

This notebook gets attention where ever I go. I mean most all notebooks are either silver or black or silver/black combo. How DULL!

On John's comment about making it harder to steal... in most cases yes, but the cover comes off easy on this one, but, the crooks don't know that :)

That's the Yoga, right? How did you paint over the rubber finish? Did you do anything special with it?

EDIT: nevermind, I just saw your other thread. It's not the Yoga. Did your Thinkpad have a rubbery sort of finish though?

I'm not sure how to explain the ThinkPad Yoga case. It's not grippy, but it's definitely not metal. It might be a kind of soft plastic or something.

This is real popular on the Android Cell Phone forum as hardly anyone paints their phones, they just buy the cases.
Still, I like to be different and not have the same thing as others out there.

These look stunning, do you paint the inside of the plastic case or the outside? I'd like to do a case so I don't mess up my new laptop. Does the paint stay well, or has it chipped over time?

On the Samsung notebook, I just painted the lid.
Paint hasn't chipped, but does fade a little bit with use. Easy enough to repaint if needed.

That looks superb! It's good that you only paint the lid as it is not relly necessary to do the bottom unit.

That's really awesome man , i love the red a lot of people would deff like to buy that heck probably will even have a lot of women to buy that type of design. I personally never liked the basic and extremely boring colors they always choose.

@jack53 have you tried doing any painting with Plasti dip? I was thinking of coating my T100 tablet with it just for some scratch protection and anti-slip. The T100's a very slippery tablet. I'm just wondering how well the Plasti dip would hold up. They say its easy to peel off if needed.

Too much "bling" for me, I like something a little less flashy, but still an awesome job!

Weird color with the sparkle things :D but looks nice in focus of quality :)

What about the wear level if you have experience with that? Any issues there?
