Is it possible to get a laptop which lets say you do not like the case of and make your own and switch the mobo and the screen. This would for sure void your warranty. But is is possible?

I saw a guy who converted a XBOX 360 in to a Laptop and the case was awesome and it was rather clunky but I think that was due to the Fact that the XBOX 360 has a huge mother board. I am guessing you have to build it around the Battery.

How do you plan to make your own case? Do you have a way to melt and mold plastic?

Sure it would be possible. You'd need the means of making the case along with mounting hardware, but other than that you'd be good to go.

I've cracked open my Dell Insprion 6000 several times and it wouldn't be hard to move everything else into some other housing, but finding a housing that fits would be tricky. :)
