Do you really care about the looks of your laptop or in addition to to its performance
Do you think looks of the laptop is also important with its hardware specification or performance?D

I care about build quality + performance = ThinkPad.
-
I don't care how my computer looks. Just as long as it performs well.
-
Performance, and then the look because you pay like.. more 20~50% cash for look...
-
performance came first the look was a bonus
-
IMO majority of the ppl go for apple macbooks just for its style
-
Specs overall.
-> If people buy tools you know their mental development might have stopped prematurely
-> That does not mean something cannot look good, or if you wish to buy art, you buy art (which does not have a purpose and costs a lot). But buying a tool that "looks good" (which is subjective) for looks alone is a clear sign of idiocy.
Edit:
Just to add if it is not clear - art can be bought for looks alone -> as it is art. -
I buy what works, at the best price point. My laptop looks like a piece of crap, but it takes everything I give it, and then some. My current usage is light, though.
I'm planning on buying a Thinkpad soon to replace it.
Macbooks are toys to me -
Macbooks are Console PC's serve a purpose that's general and simple, stylish, fun and easy to use. Throw out when done.
These days it seems very viable to get both in a laptop style and performance, I mean I think everyone of my alienware PC's have this going on. -
Performance, ergonomics, and build quality are all equally important. As for looks I could care less, it just so happens I got lucky with thinkpads being sleek and sexy.
-
I own three ThinkPads... I think that says a lot about my opinion on performance vs. looks!
-
Star Forge Quaggan's Creed Redux!
A bit of both, but performance is still where my major points goes to than looks.

Looks and performance are both neccessary. I immediately said no to Alienwares and ASUS G series because they look too silly, especially the Alienware systems.
I don't want crazy stealth angles and jet exhausts and colored LEDs and plastic bulges or an Alien head or anything that screams "GAMER!!!"
Its best to have something sleek and professional looking that is a sleeper with unexpected power under the hood. -
I kinda rank laptop looks like so:
AW/G series > too much "gamer" styling
Apple > little better, but it's a glowing advertisement on the lid. if they want me to advertise their brand so annoyingly like that, Jobs better pay up
Thinkpads/Pro- and Elitebooks/Latitude/Vostro/Precision > to me, these laptops are sexy. they match my personality well: get the job done first, though should be able to have fun too sometimes -
MahmoudDewy Gaming Laptops Master Race!
Performance .... period.

Display Quality & Performance & Looks
I want the best of everything and the Studio Xps meets that. Best Laptop EVER IMO -
Performance and solid quality in subtle looks...thats why I don't buy Alienware...they look cheesy.

I prefer performance and build quality over looks, and I dislike the glitzy, 'designer' notebooks. I'm pretty much a function over form kind of guy.
That said, my opinion is that ThinkPads are elegant without taking it too far; think business suit more than gaudy party dress. They do the job and do it well which is why I like them. My G73 has a similar 'stealth' design ethos; it's a fairly high-performance rig but doesn't have all the flashing lights and colors of, say, an Alienware. Build quality is pretty decent as well, so I'm pretty happy. -

Build quality, performance, warranty, customer service, ease of access/replacement of components.
Looks not so much important, just basic plain is fine with me, although I don't want something like this:
-
-
LOL. And that's why I think it's funny when people say "looks are not important". Give them one of those and see if they complain.
-
eh, at least it doesn't have an island-style keyboard
-
Most people saying "looks don't matter" are full of it as htwing said lol
But I think most people would agree that while looks are a factor, I doubt they'd pick it over performance.
I think a more pertinent question would be, would you be willing to pay more(assuming not anything outrageous say) for a laptop that would please you more aesthetically, ergonomically, feel-wise etc?
I personally would if the markup wasn't outrageous. -
-
AW led lights keep me sane for some reason - just kidding.
I'd go with performance, if I need it for work.
Looks, if I want to resell it in the future. -
I would go for a blend of both. I like looks on lappy, but performance is also very important.

+1 Perhaps!
(I see you still have your 1645) -
I'd be lying if I said looks don't count at all. I don't want the ugliest laptop on the planet, but performance comes first. (My y460 isn't exactly a looker.)
-
Looks do matter to me, as does performance. But, the "looks" I prefer are those of business laptops: the staid black of the Thinkpads, clean and simple design of Elitebooks, etc.
-
I agree. I'd give performance a slight edge over looks. Like, MidnightSun, I'm more into a clean/traditional look such as the T/W/X Thinkpad series and the newest generation of Elitebooks. Apple laptops are also well designed and some offer good performance for their price.
-
I would actually sacrifice some of the looks for performance, but what I always keep looking in a laptop is it's thermals.
I am a temp freak. -
AWWWEEEESSOOOMMMEEE!! -
I prefer my laptop to have a uniformed thickness to it like the thinkpads; unlike most of the laptops they have now with 0.1" in the front and 2" in the back. Also looking for the best specs for my money.
-
-
i prefer laptops having a uniform build all across the unit like the macbooks or HP envy series

To me it doesent really matter whether it looks good or not. The top 1 priority is Performance, but then its just a bonus that my alienware looks so sexy ; )
-
I would say I look at performance 6/10 while looks 4/10.
What's important is the price point. I usually have a budget in mind of how much I am willing to spend and shop around for deals. Sometimes if you wait for a bit you could find something with good looks and decent performace for a really good price. -
I value performance enough to want a good user experience, but there are other factors that contributed to my decision to buy the machine in my sig. It's simply beautiful (beautifully simple?), and the fans can rarely be heard above other background noise -- in fact, oftentimes it's dead silent. It's also light and small, and the performance is not so high as to require a massive power brick.
It was also pretty cheap. I know I paid somewhat of a premium due to its design (meaning I could have had higher performance for the same price), but this was really the right blend of performance/looks/portability/price for me. -
I can't take my eyes off the Alienware LEDs...must...buy...

I say wait till sept for a newer update. -
100% performance..

Laptop's performance or looks?
