I have decided on a desk, and its glass. I had an idea to put lights underneath the glass (colored neon ones, preferably blue) but can't find any that would just be hooked up via power cable.

I was thinking of using that tubing stuff that they sell around christmastime, but can't find that either.

    glue it? tape?
to power it? there are many USB wall chargers. There are many 7ports USB hubs with a wall charger. There are many USB neons or adapters to USB or hubs to connect neons which power are powered by USB.

Check out some of the auto-pimping stores and see what they use to get underbody lighting effects.

I agree with Shyster, you should check out some auto underbody neon/LED tube lighting. You can find tubes ranging in the vicinity of one to three feet, in whatever colors you want. They all use 12v hardwire connections. This is usually used to wire into your car's fuse box, but any grounded 12v power source will do, even if it's just a 12v battery. You can also buy a small switch to let you turn the lights on and off.

In case you couldn't tell, I've got plenty of experience installing neon kits. :p

The only issue I can see is where you would hide all the wiring.

All the auto stuff is 12v, you can just get a 12v wall dc plug and hard wire it, or if you want to play it safe I have seen wall plugs that are meant so you can use auto accesories inside like this:

[IMG] (that one is not a US plug lol but they have them, you can probably even find it in Walmart)

You can just plug it in like normal with that and use a splitter if you need more than one plug.

For a glass desk I think I would put leds on the floor level though so the floor will light up like a run way and it will project into the glass causing it to glow.

also this may be pretty much what your looking for - http://www.pctoys.com/840556088714.html

This is what I was talking about - http://www.pctoys.com/840556051701.html project the light from above or below into the desk, so the light wont take away the attention, the glass itself will 'glow"

I don't know how well the floor would work, i figured that since it was a glass desk, if I mounted it right underneath I would get some cool reflections.

How about electroluminescent tape ? You could put 2 layers around the edge, one with the lighted bit facing into the glass so the table lights up and one with the illuminated side facing outward so it looks even cooler. If you wanted you could get EL wire and maybe bend it into a logo to put on the bottom of the glass or something

That does look pretty interesting, 2 questions though. Are their any trusted retailers that sell this, or do I have to trust some websites I've never heard of. How are they powered, do I need to wire on a wall plug, or does it come with one?

Nice! Does the light ever get to bothering you, like if you've been at the desk for a long time.

Not sure about an etailer for the EL tape but I thing EL wire is pretty easy to find. I think some case modding websites stock it

Any chance you could throw up a pic with the front 2 off? I'm looking at your pics again, and it seems to me that it would be really aetherial/ghostly with those two off.

Ooh! I like! Man, I cannot wait until we can afford to move into a house (instead of a dinky little NYC apt) and I can finally have my own office/computer lab. :(

Actually, to put it into the proper perspective for people who have the good fortune to not live in NYC, what most of us live in would be more properly characterized as a large walk-in closet with windows in any other real-estate market outside of S.F.
