Whitebooks typically ship with a small slot on the lid for a logo plate...

Does anyone know of anyone that already sells custom logo plates for notebooks?
If not, what sort of person would I talk to about making one for me anyway?

Well, the problem is that since you only need one, it's going to be expensive to have it commercially produced. I deal with acid etching companies, and the tooling and process is the same price for 300 as for one to make a 2 inch diameter ornament. They need to put a rather large sheet of (whatever material) metal into their machines.
Then, on the other hand, if you go to a jeweler or metal artist for a one-off custom job, they're gonna charge you the same money for all the labor.
I would probably paint rubber paint on a piece of aluminum sheet, scratch off the background, leaving the logo painted, and sand-blast the hell out of it (or acid etch it). Then I would remove the rest of the paint, cut out the actual size of the logo badge, file, sand & buff it, and clean it with acid. Then I'd either anodize it or fill the background with thick enamel and bake it, and sand & buff the surface so the logo (in metal) is on the same surface as the enamel.
These are things you could do on your own. But if money's no object, then contact a private jeweler. Usually they can send you in the right direction. -

Anyway, maybe when I have some loose money that I don't decide to gamble away, I'll look into this some more -
If you make a Batman logo, I'd buy one off of ya.

I'd probably be lame and get my school sparty logo -
I would goto a "things remembered" store, we have them in just about every mall in lower NY. i'm pretty sure they could engrave a cool looking plate for your laptop for a minimal amount of money.
