I have a Toshiba Z830 ultrabook that I have meticulously looked after for the past year since I bought it. however I have stupidly managed to put a 3-4mm long and 0.5-1mm wide scratch on the top of the lid.
it has gone through the lacquered finish and exposed the dark substances within the very fabric of my laptoplol!
question is, is it likely I can find somewhere or someone who can repair this damage? I know its a bit anal but I have literally just upgraded the thing to last me another couple of years and bar from the keyboard wear and tear it is in literally as new condition so this one little blemish really puts me out.
I have previously and ongoingly got scratches out of the base of the unit that haven't broken the lacquer with car polish and that works a charm, however I suspect this scratch has gone too deep and with it being a magnesium case I think a proper repair may be required if such a thing exists?
any comments, help, advice and experiences welcomed and muchly appreciated!
thanks
Ben

Unless its REALLY deep, it's just a visual blemish. My suggestion, get more, so it doesn't stand out as much.
If you want it fixed.
-Might try calling Toshiba. Guaranteeing it's not going to be free/covered in warranty, but they might fix it for you for a fee.
-You can buy a Z830 lid assembly and try to replace it yourself. Toshiba doesn't sell parts directly to us as far as I know, but they point us toward National Parts Depot, but it doesn't seem like they have parts for the Z830 Epson, HP, Toshiba, Konica Minolta, Canon Parts & Accessories - National Parts Depot
-This place comes up in Google though Toshiba original LCD back cover - TS48082 - $124.95 US : Notebook Solutions, Parts, Service & Support -
If the scratch it though to the base material there are very few options for seamless (visually) repair:
1. replace the damaged piece
2. repaint the damaged piece
A final option is to "touch up" the scratch. But this will most likely be impossible to achieve satisfactory results. The paint match will likely be impossible to achieve. On such a (relatively) small piece, complete repaint is the better option.
Pictures of the offending scratch would help..... -
Put a sticker over it? You can get some vinyl stickers, can get them customised as well, at least then it will be a random sticker being scratched and your case will be hidden/protected then.
