Has anybody used Monster ScreenClean on their notebook screens? Is it safe and does it do a good job of cleaning the screen? I've been looking for a good screen cleaner and everybody suggests this brand, anybody suggest any other brand I should try? I was told to stay away from any alcohol or amonia solutions, true or false? Thanks everybody!

I have it on my desk right now. I have great experience with it. That is all I have ever used on mine. The included cloth is great too.
True, don't use Windex type stuff ever. -
They have a special product for LCDs. Use that or just use a damp cloth. There have been several threads lately regarding LCD cleaning liquids and several posts on damaged LCDs due to the use of regular window/glass cleaning chemicals.
I really don't understand why you people want special cleaning chemicals. I mostly use a dry microfiber or sometimes a damp soft cloth; it always works 100% for me.

The Monster Screen Cleaner is a great product and it should last you quite a while. The included cloth is a nice little addition. The solution itself is both alcohol and ammonia free if I remember correctly so it won't damage your LCD.

You're bound to get spots that a dry microfiber can't easily remove eventually.
I use pixel clean. I don't know what's in it, but it has no solvent smell at all, and does a good job of breaking down dried on whatevers. It comes with a microfiber cloth, too, if you get the right package anyway. I'd avoid the travel packs unless you really need the convenience, the cloths aren't harsh, just more difficult to work with.
What solvents do is dry the surface (and all plastics). Over time, and not necessarily a lot of it, you'll get yellowing and eventually cracking. And of course, if you use a dirty or insufficiently soft cloth, the screen is extremely easy to scratch. -

I recommend that you use ShaggyMac Optimist Prime. It has a really good solution, never leaves anything on my screen, and works really really well. I have a spotless screen due to that stuff, where other cleaners have failed to get things off. Check it out at www.ShaggyMac.com

I've been using notebooks for a couple of years , and desktops for more than 10 years. So far I've never used any special cleaning liquids on any of them (CRT or LCD) except perhaps a tiny bit of soap in very rare occasions on CRT. I try my best not to touch the screen surface, all other dirt / marks are easily removed by dry, if not wet soft cloth. Never came across any instances where it didn't work. I clean the screen regularly (once a week), so nothing that cant be easily removed builds up.

I do the same as poster above... i am on my third lappy and have always just relied on a handy micro fiber cloth with no problems
-
Ditto -- a *little* water and a soft cloth (the kind for cleaning glasses works great) is all you need. Chemicals could theoretically effect any coatings put on the screen. I remember there was a warning to that effect on a CRT I once had...
However the best advise is to look in the manual for your laptop for how they suggest cleaning it. I'm sure it'll say a moist, soft cloth. -
A good microfiber cloth has always worked best for me. I'm pretty sure the pixel clean company sells them.
I have learned the hard way to avoid anything with ammonia or alcohol, especially on the glossy screens. After a few uses, the surface is permanently etched ...
Of course, some people use lasers to etch the back of their laptop. If you *want* to etch your screen, too, then be my guest ... -
There are a lot of LCD cleaners available on the market. If it says its safe enough to clean electronic screens, then get it.
