What item, component, or feature will be the most important for you to have when you upgrade to your next laptop?

In my case, I need to consider the highest grade GPU my new computer can support as I will be using Adobe suites and the majority of my work will be centered around that component.

That's currently my biggest limitation at the moment. The other components will help, but none of the other things will limit my work as much.

Well, I went with the screen, but I have to pair that with GPU as well. What good will an uber screen do without a decent GPU? Without having a decent GPU, you might as well have a system that uses GMA 950 and a 1080p display.

I'd vote screen/GPU/mod and upgrade, but I can only go for one :(

I choose upgrade since it would allow me to easily add a part I want, or replace an existing one with a better one.

Yes, I get this. A lot of these components are interrelated. But a good GPU typically comes with a screen to get the best of it.

Screen as still the biggest drain, so whomever can do the best job with that is the one I will pick.

Am I correct in assuming there are a lot of gamer at this site?

Would Thunderbolt make or break anyone's decision in their next lappy?

GPU for sure. Ive never reached anywhere near the theoretical peak of my CPU capacity. I don't foresee me hitting that wall ever again.

    Gpu on the other hand....

What about build quality... how can that not be an option

    Other?

Although I can't see a lot of people delaying a purchase over build quality. Nevertheless, my next primary laptop will be a workstation.

I will probably buy a new MacBook Pro in 5 years or so.

Who knows where innovation will take us by then. I expect the biggest leap will be in terms of battery life. Perhaps 12-15 hours of battery life will be reachable.

Unlikely since that would constitute a revolutionary new power material/source that would change the way the world uses energy--the biggest hold back in the electric car is the battery. I know they are working on it, but at the moment, I don't see it appearing anytime soon.

Rather, I think the revolution will come in the form of a new screen. Since it does constitute the largest energy use, just replacing that with something more efficient would dramatic extend your battery power/life.

I'd like to see the screen be able to slide in and out just like the HDD. What do you think?

I want the most powerful GPU that I can get for a 13-15" laptop that has >4 hrs of battery life and weighs less than 6 pounds. From a company that has a record of building reliable machines. Oh and I like the feel of brushed aluminum, and hate chicklet keyboards :)

For a moment I had imagined an Apple fanboy, then I read your blasphemy on the chicklet keyboard. Now I'm not sure anyone builds such a machine?

Battery life. Would like a higher resolution screen again but my computing needs are small and I don't need much.
