Painting your e1505 would void the warranty but putting electrical tape on the white bumpers won't.(said that because someone has done it) You could sticker your notebook it, just search Google for laptop stickers and you will find a load of sites.

Manufacturers lie to you to save/make money. You can change RAM, HDs, CPUs, and more w/o voiding your warranty. Those little stickers that say void if broken are not legal. You have many rights (if bought in the US) they don't want you to know.

You have the right to have anyone work on you computer and can use (OEM quality or better) parts from other manufacturers. For them to legally void your warranty, the paint would have had to be the cause of the failure.

Short story is paint will not void your warranty unless the paint is what kills your notebook.

If you really want to know the law about what will void you warranty, read this.

Really?? That's some good information to know. I'll keep that in mind next time I get into a fight with Dell.

It's the law but like all law YMMV when dealing with an opponent with deep pockets. I want every one to be aware of thier rights but also realize they do mods at thier own risk.

    cheers :)

Here are some pics of my painted Inspiron 6000, which is the same exact look and size of you notebook, except a little thicker. This is after I painted it. I also attached a picture of the mobo when I had it apart, put AS5 on everything.

WHat sort of paint did you use, and did it stick to the surface easily?

How hard was it to take the cover off to paint it all?

And did you have to apply a top laquer to seal it?

-It is Krylon Fusion paint I got at Walmart. It worked well and sticked to the surface well.

-Dell has really good instructions online that tell you how to take everything apart. I just followed them. The scariest part was taking the LCD panel out of the housing.

    -Nope, just paint.

    Hope that helps! :)
