Hey guys!... new guy here! ^_^
i thought i might ask for your help.... i have an oldish notebook, but i have grown attached to it (the notebook in question is an HP COMPAQ 6720s), so i would like to spice it up a little on the outside.
i would like to change its Chassis/Casing. i have found nothing on the internet, until i finally found a company that can create it for me. The problem being of course that they require a CAD drawing of the parts to manufacture. thats not a problem for me.
I was hoping to find the exact measurements of the casing somewhere in HP website, but i was unsuccessful. without them, i would need to grab a ruler and start measuring my casing... which will lead to a certain overall FAIL!
can you guys suggest something??
thank a lot!

If you truly want to do this, there are CAD tool that you run all over the laptop and it creates an exact 3d image.
That being said, just buy a new laptop, no matter how you go about this, it will cost as much ore more than replacing it. Even if you have access to this type of equipment at a school, it will cost a lot just to make the shell itself. Even from plastic.
Worse, what if you change something insignificant, pay for everything and suddenly find that you grounded something you shouldn't or you blocked a hole you deemed un-necessary and you destroy the laptop.
If it was something with more space like a desktop I would say why not, or something rather simple like a mouse, but laptops are often extremely tightly packed. Air flow has to be carefully taken into consideration as does grounding.
