Hi guys, I am in the process of building a notebook cooler for my notebook. I have just recieved 4 x 80mm Coolermaster fans to place into a base, also including a fan speed adjuster.
My question is, how can I power this lot up?
I have run it from an old PC base unit power supply and everything works fine, although I have to go through the on switch to turn it on and off, but I cant lug that big base unit around with me lol, what I need is a power supply to power my fan control unit, then that in turn will supply my 4 x 80mm fans.

The reason I am doing this and not buying a notebook cooler is that I have placed each fan to where I think its needed most and also I can put each one to the speed I want, without having to use the notebook's power supply.
Any help would be much appreciated.

    Update.....

Well I have just fitted the 4 fans in a 240mm X 370mm case, connected the fan speed adjuster in and left them all on low speed except one. Powered them up using an old Packard Bell Tower and thought I would give it a quick test.

Before: No Load GPU 56 - 60 degrees
Load GPU 70 - 75 degrees (Using Toca Race Driver 3)

    After : No load GPU 45 - 48 degrees
    Load GPU 56 - 59 degrees

So already its showing great results, not to mention cooling the CPU and Hard drive too. Just need to get a long 4 pin power supply from my old Base unit to my cooler, approx 1 - 2 meters of cable would do the job nicely. Now ,where would I get that from?

Your best bet is to look at Mouser electronics, DIGIKEY and MPJA Type in power supply into the search button and you are bound to find what you are looking for.
I just wanted to throw this in:
My laptop cooler is pretty power hungry, so I bought a 500watt power supply for it :D
