So I sold my spare laptop yesterday (never used it anyway). As I was delivering it, my buddy called me and asked if I had any need for a severely old Compaq Armada that his dad's office was tossing.
Of course I do!
I have no idea the specs, but from the initial description, this thing is SLOOOOOOW.
My idea is to use this as a test machine so that I can summon the balls to mod my main lappy with confidence.
the idea is to make this incredibly slow laptop LOOK like it is screaming fast. Basically take this $10 machine (well, technically free) and give it a million dollar paint job.
To achieve this, I want to lay down a base color of red w/ metal flakes. Are there any pitfalls to look out for in using a metal fleck paint? I remember reading somewhere that wet-sanding could mess it up (or maybe that was wet-sanding messed up a METALLIC finish?).
When I pick the machine up later today, I'll post a before pic.

If you have clear coat over the flake you can wet sand out the dust nibs. Do yourself the favor and buy the 3000 grit.
Paint question...
