do u guys care whether the computer performs well or u dont care about performance u just bought it for looks? If something happens to the chassis of the computer do u care or no as long as it has the same performance as before?
Do looks matter to you?
Does performance matter?
Does having both matter to you?
-
-
Both gotta go together.
-
How about both?
I currently have an Inspiron 6400, and I actually happen to like how it looks.. before this, I had a HP nc8000 and an Inspiron 4100, and really liked how those looked as well.
On my Inspiron 4100, the right hinge broke, but that was really annoying, so I purchased from parts people a new hinge and on the nc8000, the touchpad died, so I purchased a replacement palmrest (including touchpad) that also replaced a dented speaker grill from when I dropped the computer 3ft on to the ground. -
Well, I prefer performance over looks. unless its something too far off, like those pink toshiba sli laptops.
I have M1730, and it performs like an absolute dream. while some dislike its styling, I actually like the way it looks. -
hey i like pink...WTH lol jk i dont like does either they look rather uneasy on the eyes..... they soiled my eyes when i first saw them..... i was like:
-
has to be a compromise between the 2. i want a good lookin notebook that performs well.
-
u ask for to much ...lol well their is somewhat very little notebooks that give everyone's needs an end.........
-
-
Performance and FUNCTIONALITY over looks anyday
-
well my laptop was all gray and dull looking so i painted it all black now thats a man color right their gotta go with the stealth black man batman style
-
-
i love the 1730 looks ....
my AW is purty nice to ......
http://forum.notebookreview.com/showthread.php?t=375500
lid off the m9700 series
i kinda am missing the all black though .... -
yes that how i felt when i painted over the gray off my laptop but then i stopped carrying because all black looks better anyways and its easy to clean...
-
matte black has no finger prints glossy green does
-
yeah my bad i was trying to say that even if black gets dirty by most things its not easy to point out.......yes light color especially with gloss attract finger prints like a magnet have to clean it non stop....
-
-
just let it slide simple mistake......i think -
For me, I guess its both
I don't really like glossy finish, but my current laptop and the one on order are both glossy, so I get over it. -
yeah glossy finish catches peoples eyes really fast...and it looks nice it make computers look more expensive too
but i wouldnt like cleaning my finger prints off every time i use it
-
the XPS is amazing i wish i had one ... when i was looking for a laptop i looked but they were to expensive now i could get 2 of them and there as fast as mine now
-
true that laptop have gone down on price drastically their becoming much more affordable i bought an Hp dv6000 not long ago not even all that great cost me 1400$ with a crappy gpu 8400m gs which i later found out it had heat issues i was like w t f...man
-
-
yes the xps laptop are very nice very well put together... nice color scheme as well
-
-
While performance and cost were by far the 2 most important factors to me, I did take into consideration the fact that I did not want to be embarassed to be seen in public. Some of the gaming laptop designs are ridiculous.
-
rid the world from incompetent fools no offense to anyone ok...just saying publicly speaking
-
who r we talkiing about?
hopefully not me .... -
no not u mr. moo.... but i will not point out who for safety reasons.lol
-
no more dell perhaps
-
what no more dell ?
-

You want a system with looks over performance, PM me, I am selling my voodoo's soon.
K-TRON -
i thought they all died
-
-
-
2 of them are dead, but one works
K-TRON -
how much? for it
-
I sent you a PM
The Orange M855 is a beautiful laptop, no real scratches or marks on it.
The owner bought the system for his son who was like 4yrs old at the time. The loving son, kicked his father's screen in, which shorted the graphics card on the motherboard. The graphic is integrated, ATi 9800 I think,
The system powers on, no activity though. Needs a motherboard and a screen.
Based on the Mitac M8355 chassis.
I have been looking for a new lcd and motherboard for it, but I cannot find any
The M360 is also a gem. Nice and silver. Worked for 3 years without problem.
The integrated ATi 9700 or whatever it has is burned out.
It is based on the Compal CL-50
All this one needs is a motherboard.
Again, I cant find one. The graphics is onboard
Otherwise, battery works and tries powering up with no activity
The U709 works. Has new motherboard, new harddrives, new memory, new graphics card. Has new paint job. One small knick in the paint which I need to get fixed.
Has a small scratch on the LCD. Other than that it works fine. Its technically under warranty, but Voodoo's warranty covers absolutely nothing so it doesnt have a warranty

Performance baby. I can make a laptop look nice all by myself. I however cannot compensate for poorly implemented mechanical features.
-
performance man yes...it either has ba**s or not right
-
but in all honesty, u don't really have to pick between the 2 now a days. performance and looks have been integrated into 1. everyone knows that looks will sell, so laptop makers had to change up their marketing schemes. i don't think there should be any reason why u should have to pick between the 2 with all the beautiful, and powerful, notebooks available this day and age. -
i guess everybody has their own idea of nice and powerful cant change that.....or can we
-
For me, performance is the important thing.... I'm buying a laptop to use it, not to show it... So i always look for performance, and if it looks good, well that's a plus...
-
They definitely go together for me. I like notebooks that are plain and sturdy, though - it's like sports cars. I like my cars with a stock look, but with beefed-up internals. Flashy lights and an elaborate paint job is just over the top and ostentatious. I love the plain look of the Thinkpads (and most other business laptops), which hides the power within
-
It's going to be part of both IMo for most people.
Hypothetical examples. I'm sure even is the Toshiba Qosmio X305 turned into the most powerful notebook, a lot of people STILL wouldn't buy it for its looks so looks DO count to a certain extent.
Personally, I'd like a balance between both. performance is more important to me, but looks do play a role and I won't pretend they don't. I plan to bring my notebook to school and later to work so it has to be presentable for both environments as well as fitted to the needs(I suppose form factor would fall under looks no?).
Also, I'm sure if the exterior of a notebook got worn out or scratched that a user would work to make it look better because its still their possession and they want their stuff to look as good as they perform. If your car has a dent, you get it fixed if you can. Doesn't matter that the car can still roll, you want it to look decent as well lolVanity is a part of out society and thosre who deny it are either denying it or ahve my respect for moving past these things.
Before you ask, yes I am a girl lol -
-
yes the thinkpad has a very plain but attractive look to it. a lot of lights make the laptop look like the las vegas strip sure doesnt look good in a classroom.... -
. i respect everyone's choice, u do what makes u happy
i personally like plain things over the attractive shiny things. Yes a plain lay out looks like it fits in every situation school or business..... -
i personally wouldn't touch any lenovo notebooks, but i do respect them for their quality and all-business type attitude. i still believe there is absolutely no need to have to sway towards just looks or performance. all notebooks, from netbooks to high-end ones, now a days come in very handsome packages. melody made a great point about the toshiba laptop. even tho it is a very powerful notebook, sales still suck due to it's external package. -
If your laptop gets scratched, you're unhappy right? I mean, it's merely an aesthetic thing, chances are that light scratch will not affect the laptop's performance, but I'll guarantee you more than 50% of people will either be slightly unhappy(even if it's just an "awww") if their laptop gets physical aesthetic damage. Why? Well looks do matter. In some cases you worked hard for your laptop so you want it to look good and reflect the hard work you put into it.
That's what I meant by "looks matter", not "oh I wanna be cool so I buy a cool looking laptop!".
The 2nd part I meant is that looks matter in context of the place the laptop is being put. For some people(which I highly respect), appearances don't matter, but for most people they do. You don't show up to work in your underwear for a reason lolSame thing with your material, some work environments would rather you don't bring your flashy gaming rig with you when you're closing an enterprise deal
Performance over looks......
