Does anyone know where I could get some (rather large) rubber pads or mouldings? I'd like to try to attach some onto the side of my laptop to provide some grip when I'm holding it in portrait mode (it's a tabletpc).

I tried looking for it on ebay... but the only thing that really came up was automotive parts... like the kind of rubber pieces that goes on brake pedals and the kind that lines windows.......... and some rubber mousepads. The mousepad-type quality is not what i'm looking for.

Just for the sake of explaining what I want, I'm looking more for the "brake pedal" quality: feels relatively ok on the hands, pretty solid, but still ok to bend.... and you could cut it using a razor of some sort. Having a bit of trouble explaining it...

Anyone know what I'm talking about?

I know what you are talking about, but not sure where to look. If you dont get any other recommendations, it may be worth it to buy the brake pads (if they are cheap enough) and cut the rubber to be what you want. Or try looking for stamp kits. They have some pretty good rubber in them, made them in an art class I took.

Yeah. The brake pads are like.. $20 on eBay (incl shipping)... but honestly, that's a lil more than I'm willing to pay for pieces of rubber.

Stamp kids? Is the rubber relatively easy to cut and shape?

Its just plain rubber, you should be able to find it at a craft/hobby store, just tell them what you want and they should easily be able to find it for you. As far as it being easy to cut, it should be much easier than a brake pad, but it will still grip because it is rubber. I used a little blade to carve intricate details into it without much trouble, so I don't a carpenters knife, or exacto knife will have much trouble cutting it up.

Try egrips.com, under "universal shapes" you can find a set specifically for notebooks, if they aren't the right size they also have sheets so you can cut them yourself. I haven't used them, but I heard some good things about them being used for PDA's.

     THAT'S PERFECT!!!!
They have all these different sizes and shapes... even some "notebook crescents" - though I honestly have no idea where those could be put.
But still... COOL! :) and.. oooo... they have different colours, too! w00t! :D
    Thanks Rumple!

Clothing, thanks for the suggestions/advice! If the eGrips don't work, I'll be sure to try out the rubber stamps! :)
