My Sony Vaio Z has a little scratch on its top cover. Is there anyone who can help me fix it aside from sending it to Sony and spending $250 on it?
-
You can't fix plastic. If you put an Invisible Shield on it, the scratch should be much less noticeable.
-
are there any services out there that replaces it? something a little more reasonable and practical compared to what sony charges? any alternative?
-
Have you tried searching for a new lid on Ebay? I seem to remember that for certain popular models of laptops, often random parts are freely available for purchase on Ebay. Its worth a shot?
-
Copy this, actually your only way out.
-
tried to look for one there but was unsuccessful.
-
You should then try to look for another guy/company that sell Vaio parts then. Not all of them are on eBay. You can as Sony? I needed that one time and phoned Asus, they did give me a Swidish company's name that sold Asus parts.
-
Alright. I'll try that, Tunay. Any other suggestions would be appreciated.
-
Yeah, do that and let us know how it turns out for you
-
been looking for one but no luck
-
You could put on a laptop skin, or a sticker to cover up that part. It will still look pretty normal if you put something like a Razer sticker on the scratched part.
Another thing you could do is to bring the lid to a spray shop, and let them respray the silver color on the lid. -
If you want a snazzy looking laptop you could contact Colorware and they'll professionally paint it for you and you pick the colors.
-
Colorware is really expensive, it will actually be cheaper to get a lid from sony.
Some regular spray shops may be able to do it for a resonable price -
Get a skin.
SGP, 3ACP, etc. -
This is a major negative of VAIO ownership. Replacement costs are outrageous. I was going to buy a VAIO YB, but they wanted $300 for the big battery. HAHA.
-
So? You can't even buy one.

lovelaptops MY FRIENDS CALL ME JEFF!
Had the same thing happen (after the "refurb" came without a mark ;( ), and I used the lowest abrasive car paint rubbing compound. Got abou 3/4 of the scratch gone but now have shinly area where CF "sandy" appearance was, Depnding on the size of the scratch and how much it behered me, I would probably just leave it. If you used the same compound to polsih the whole lid. It would look very nice and be more scratch resistant; just would'nt be "authentic," which I preder. -
thanks to all that replied. i think i'm gonna try that spray paint shop. i'm currently out of town right now but i'll try to find my local spray paint shop when i get back home. Keep all those suggestions coming. Really appreciate them.
-
Are you trying to put me down by implying that I'm poor? I can tell you for a fact that I totally am.
Battery is backordered, but still set to ship. -
Referring to your sig.
-
?
Why can't I buy one? You're not saying I'm a fanboy, I assume, because my sig shows I used to own a TZ. And surely, people are allowed to own more than one computer. -
i think hes just implying that you have a macbook and they don't have batteries so hes saying that you can't even buy a battery to use with a macbook
but anyways, i have like 1 weird scratch from my lid hitting another lid.. my friend's macbook's lid. sad. i hate macbooks
.
but anyways, if it gets worst, then ill buy the leathery looking skin from SGP, looks nice
